Here is the build thread http://www.nano-reef.com/topic/315018-jims-temperate-pico/

Was written up in Reef Builders https://reefbuilders.com/2013/04/11/jims-temperate-pico/

All livestock & all equipment included custom 1" thick acrylic tank, marble top stand, controller, LED light, chillers, pumps & filter. Basically it's buy the livestock & get the equipment free or vice versa.

Can be moved full of water so no need to brake it down. Very easy salt water tank to maintain. Would make a great office tank. If you check the build thread you can see it has been running a good long time so very stable system.

Pick up only, wouldn't be very practical to ship all of it. Asking $750

Happy to answer any questions & could maybe meet part way for pick up, although it would help who ever buys it to see it set up & see how it all works first. Ask question here or PM me & if needed I can call you or you me & we can talk more.

Not gunna lie, I just Googled the drive time between Chattanooga and Raleigh. I wish it was closer! I just moved 2 tanks 500 miles last week. IDK that I'm up for that amount of driving again...

I understand location is a problem. I would like to sell sooner than later but if some one really wanted this I could wait a while. I have moved the little tank to a spot that it could stay in for a while, just can't be for ever. Also maybe could meet in Knoxville or Atlanta. Just a thought.

Meeting in Knoxville would make the drive much more appealing, I won't lie. However, I am still going to cross my fingers that by bumping your thread, you will get another buyer to swoop in immediately and stop me from bad decision making. ;)

What is your maintenance routine on this like? ie frequency of feeding, cleaning, % of water changes, etc. I've never had a pico or temperate tank before.

I do a one gallon water change every couple weeks & clean the pumps & filter about once a month or so. The pumps get gunky because of the small food I'm guessing. I feed baby brine shrimp & cyclops every day & most days spot feed some brine shrimp (the bigger nems & fish can use the larger food). Seems like a lot of food but there is a lot of live in there & the nems stay open a lot more when there is more to eat.

If I can not find some one that can keep it all together I may have to sell livestock & equipment separate, would be a shame though.

I have it set to 57 degrees

Thanks

Jim

Now that is tempting! But I am too far away ( thank goodness) and so new at reef keeping I am afraid I would crash it!

I think you are closer than I am. Chicken. ;)

My hesitation comes from having MTS already!

I'll bite, MTS?

Multi-tank-syndrome I believe

Lot of that going around for sure

Harry is correct. When I moved last week I "downsized" from 3 tanks to 2 (although my total system volume is greater than it was). I have long-term plans (ie in the next year) that include at least 2 more tanks -- a freshwater planted nano and a large 100+ gallon saltwater.

I so wish! But right now my Bucks are tied up in publishing. Not reef related BTW! But I purchased a breed specific canine magazine ( goes back to 1950's) and that is where my "disposable" income is going

Would have to stay right side up, if your going to just tape plastic around the top like I had always thought of moving it. How ever you could pull that off. The stand is good size & the top is kinda heavy too.

I've made that trip several times, not a bad days drive. It would be tuff to come & go back the same day for sure!

Here's my other tank, might like to see it too.

On a side note, the power consumption for that system is probably so small that you could plug it in to a converter in the car and run the chiller and pumps while you are driving. Any idea how many watts total to run it Jim?

Just a thought for anyone with a long drive ;)

I don't know how much the ice probes draw (could check into it if anyone needed to know & could only run one while traveling) but the circulation pump I believe is 4W or less.
