Travisgause
So I thought I would do a proper tank build thread. Tank was setup on the 26th of December using 11 or so pounds of live rock from a 12 year old tank that was transported in a 5g bucket under water. 6 pounds of live sand from Caribsea (unwashed) and ocean water from Imagitarium. Water parameters were checked twice daily for ammonia, nitrites and nitrates. I fed fish food to build ammonia to keep the bacteria going. When I could not get a change in parameters I dosed ammonia to around 3ppm (.55ml) and tested again in 24 hours (tested 0). I decided water parameters were good to go. As of typing this this I am at: NH3 0 NO2 0 NO3 >3 Salinity 1.023 Hardware: Fluval Spec V Upgraded the stock pump to a Hydor 100gph Used the stock pump as a secondary power head (turned to its lowest setting) for a combined 150ish gph turnover rate Removed the Bio balls from the mix and added a second bag of carbon. Upgraded the light to a Current USA Orbit Marine 18"-24" Placed an Ebo-Jager 50w heater in the rear area out of sight Livestock: 3 blue leg Hermits 3 Cerith snails 2 peppermint shrimp 1 fish to be determined Corals: Colony of Palys with a bunch of new growth living on a fist sized rock 1 piece of dead coral with a colony of Mushrooms growing on it 1 frag of Pavona (lime green) 1 Ricordia Yuma (purple with green tips) attached to live rock 1 Ricordia Yuma (brownish purple) frag Pictures: New Tank Old aquascape and live rock Life under the stock lighting New growth?
