The red sea foundation pro kit for ca/alk/mg says it is on sale from $59.99 to $47.99. But it isn't considered a clearance deal? I cannot add the coupon to my order and it isn't on the clearance deals link.

 

Is it just a separate sale on this item?

I can understand the confusion and will do my best to clear things up!

 

A regular sale item, like the Red Sea kit you mentioned, would be a temporary discount... generally tied into some sort of promotion we are currently running.

 

Items in our clearance section (currently no Red Sea stuff—you can see eligible brands in the right column) usually have already had permanent price reductions because Marine Depot or the manufacturer is discontinuing the product. I should add that sometimes products are only being discontinued (like a couple of the AquaMaxx skimmers, for example) because newer, better versions have come along to replace them. My point being that an item being discontinued isn't necessarily a reflection of the quality of the product.

 

A good rule of thumb when it comes to identifying which items on our site are eligible for a coupon: is the coupon displayed on the product page for the item I am looking at (after you have selected options from drop-down menus on the page, when applicable)? If so, great! The coupon will work. If you don't see a coupon, the product is probably not eligible.

 

Sometimes we don't publish coupons on product pages. Like, for example, if we rewarded you with one for entering a giveaway. But for something like this where we promote it, we'll always put the coupon on eligible product pages. Looks like XMASCLOSEOUT is eligible for 216 products total.

I figured that was the case.. I sell furniture and some items are discontinued because the factory stopped making them and they can not be discounted further. We are actually having a year end saving event right now too, same type of idea.
