Bossy
hello everyone, My name is Victor, I live in Belgium and I'm an 18 year old student Industrial Engineering. I' ve been in the saltwater hobby for about 5 years now and my previous tank was a 100g rimless tank. I had to stop this tank due to i'm only home in the weekends (university). I dind't want to stop with the hobby, so i set up a little nano reef. - tank: 27,5 " x 16" x 20" selfmade glass tank (black backround) Ikea stand - Equipment: lighting: Maxspect Razor 10k 160W skimmer: Coralbox s150 Tunze 9001 flow: Tunze 6015+ jebao wp-25 heater: 100W - Stocking: 2 occelaris clownfish 1 blood red fire shrimp here's a quick pic (don't mind the quality): In this picture, I still had to top up the water level and i will later add my sand when i rule out the phosphate (current: 0,009 ppm , hanna P) . My previous lighting was Ocean Revive artic s026, which i liked very much. But i had the chance to buy a razor from a local reefer for dirt cheap so went with that. my flow pumps will be replaced by two MP20's and skimmer will be replaced by tunze 9001. I love the coralbox but since my background is black , i went with the tunze pure for aesthetics. i really hope these upgrades (or dowgrade's?) are silent because my tank is in my bedroom. If these aren't silent, i will have to re-use my "old" equipment. greetings from Belgium, Victor 8 Quote Link to comment
Rehype
Looks great Victor. Any plans for fish? Quote Link to comment
Nano sapiens
Welcome I'd like to see this in a few months since the rockwork looks really nice and the tank should look super when the sand is in. Curious about your phosphate comment as 0.009 ppm is really low already. My guess is that you plan to run a true ULNS system (Zeovit?). Quote Link to comment
Bossy
thanks for the welcome guys @rehype: just got a present from my brother: 2 little fish (occelaris clown), i'm thinking about an midas blenny and neon goby's or other goby's. @nano sapiens: i just want to get al of the PO4 out of the rock before i add sand. no zeovit (would love to, but due to university it's almost impossible ) i do want my PO4 to be 0,00 (hanna phosphorus) and nitrate0 or close to zero (0.2 orsomething like that) my scape isn't glued so it was a bit of puzzling but when i siphoned somme detritus out today, i knocked my scapework down it still has this overlappping on the left, but the rightside is a bit different. tomorow i'll post some photos of my fish and scape. thanks for the nice replies Quote Link to comment
Bossy
Well done Sir. thx! just received my tunze 9001 and wel... i can't really say it's quiet... i hear a very loud "stuttering" air-noise. i hope this goes away with the break-in period as of now i shut it off to go to sleep Quote Link to comment
Bossy
i have to say i love the low profile design of the tunze 9001. but... the magnet doesn't work of mine. i think they've provided me the wrong magnet as it's bouncing of the other magnet. so everytime i hang it in my tank, it slips down to the bottom. i tried it with the magnet of my 6015 pump and it works. as for now a can't stand the noise it's making! it comes out of the silencer and is making a very loud stuttering airsound... don't now what i need to do,send it back from my lfs or wait a few weeks... but I don't think the sound will disappear with the break-in period. i can say the pump is very quiet (no hum) but it's the airnoise that's drivingme nuts! Bossy
Very cool scape. Are you going to add sand? Thx! really like the scape myself too! yes, when my PO4 reads 0.00 (current: 0.009) Quote Link to comment
Rehype
Thx! really like the scape myself too! yes, when my PO4 reads 0.00 (current: 0.009) Awesome it will complement that scape perfectly. What are you using to test phosphates? Quote Link to comment
Bossy
Awesome it will complement that scape perfectly. What are you using to test phosphates? i think imma go with ATI fiji white sand. but hesitating between what grade: 0-1,2 or1-2mm...? or other suggestions for sand (i live in europe) but lfs does sell Carib Sea. i measure PO4 with hanna phosphorus (HI736) .it measures P then I convert it to PO4. grtz Victor Quote Link to comment

Cool I have the same model its very accurate when used properly. was thinking about using 1-2mm as thursday there will be 2 MP20's in the tank. hopefully it's not too many flow... i've had the hanna for about a week now, and love the unit! no more colours Quote Link to comment
Bossy
here's a few pics with the new clown's. they're tiny sorry for the bad pics (cellphone), still need to clean things up and i'm bringing the tunze 9001 back to the LFS. the noise is driving me nuts... is it only my skimmer? saw a lot of reviews that claim their dead silent but mine is far from that! should i replace it by another 9001 or keep the money/ buy an other skimmer 1 Quote Link to comment
_Zoom
This is looking nice. How do you like the Aquaforest products and the Maxspect Razor? Would you go a different route if buying again? Quote Link to comment
Bossy
This is looking nice. How do you like the Aquaforest products and the Maxspect Razor? Would you go a different route if buying again? i only used the stonefix of Aquaforest, but they do seem a good brand with good prices. I think i will use their products later on but don't now what products (maybe Ca+,Kh,...) i'm very happy with my maxspect razor lighting, looks very slik, love the design. i got this from a local reefer for a steal ( like 70€=70dollars). i'm a student so i don't have a big budget so if i would need to buy a new led fixture it would be something cheap like ocean revive or something.just because it's cheap and i can't put more than 200dollars on a fixture. BUT: if i had the money/could spend the money, i would definetly buy the razors. I just love the design and light they put out. if i would buy it i would choose the 16k version (believe it's now 15k?). so all in all....i'm just lucky i got my razors for 77 $ 1 Quote Link to comment

Bossy
are you from lokeren? i don't really like airpump driven skimmers becease i've never heard a dead silent air pump but i really don't know what skimmer i should get... Quote Link to comment
Rory282
Jeps i'm from Lokeren. Where do you study, in gent? Yes i know you always hear a hum from the air pump but if you can put it in a closed cabinet and put the pump in one of those foam baskets it's really quiet (the eheim one i have got). I will post a picture of the skimmer tomorrow. There aren't any super quiet nano skimmers out there i'm afraid... :-( Quote Link to comment
