Aidan
Hey everyone, I registered a while ago (...2009) but I've been doing a lot more stalking then anything. I took a bit of time off from the hobby but I'm back into it finally. I currently have 2 tanks, a Red Sea Max 130 and a newly purchased Reefer 250. I've had my Max for coming on 8 years now its starting to look a little tired and outdated in my opinion. I've made so many mistakes throughout the years, learning as I go but I'm getting the hang of it, taking note of what not to do and what do. A few pictures to show you the set up, sorry for the poor quality, everything around the tank is a little cluttered at the moment (still moving furniture around etc), I'm definitely going to post some hi res ones soon. Also, I just added the sand this morning so its a little hazy still. Equipment I'm running at the moment; Tank - Reefer 250 (white) Sump - stock Lighting - 2 x Kessil A160WE Tuna Blue, though I'm contemplating on 2 x Radion XR30 pro's (thoughts?) Flow - 1x Vortech MP40WES & 1 x MP10WES Skimmer - Deltec 1455 Return pump - Vectra M1 (set at 70% at the moment) Reactor - Two Fishes Phosban Reactor Doser - Neptune DOS & Reservoir (hasn't been setup) Controller - Neptune Apex If anyone has any opinions on what I'm using in terms of equipment feel free to help me out, I'm confident but a second opinion is always nice. Thanks guys, hopefully I can contribute as often as I can. Cheers Link to comment
Rory282
Hi Aidan, Looks like you have got some great equipment. If you are doubting about the kessil's, just google nathan willard's youtube channel. He uses them on the same tank. Looks super imo. Looking forward to see some pictures. I'm still collecting my equipment. Going to setup a reefer 170. Although the reefer 250 is tempting... :-). Rory Link to comment
Aidan
Cheers Rory. I googled Nathan's tank on youtube, I was in awe of how great it's going in such a short period, the coraline growth is amazing and some of the growth on his acropora is something to be proud of. Though it's scary how similar our tanks are to be honest in relation to equipment. I was thinking of the 170 for a while but I just wanted to take that set up a little bit more, also with the extra room in the cabinet for setting up controllers, dosers etc I preferred it. Pictures to come in the next few days, I'll use my sisters Canon to get some better quality shots too. Link to comment
Rory282
Yes Nathan's tank is amazing. I am always doubting do i want to keep it simple (reefer 170) or go the extra mile (reefer 250). I already got some equipment which could handle both... Btw, it's picture time! :-) Link to comment
