Looks like a good start. That light will do your basic corals if you want some stony corals might want to go with the pro version. Those are ideal for shallow tanks like this 5.5

Where the tank is placed might be an issue. You don't want to be kicking up alot of dust from the carpet and have it get into your tank and you might worry about someone kicking it on accident.

Thanks for the reply pieman! I am going to be putting a top on to help with evaporation and to prevent dust and such from getting in. Also its just my fiance and I living here, we don't have frequent visitors so this should be a low traffic area so kicking it isn't really a threat at this point. I do have an alternate location if we encounter problems though. My fiance just thought it would look cool here so we decided to give it a shot. Again thanks for the reply!

BTW: I dig that Acan frag you've got waiting for the Biocube! Good luck with that build. I'll follow

Thanks! I tried to get some of Jack's but most are going to stella or being sold locally. If you cant tell I LOVE acans. Only thing that sucks is they aren't that cheap.

I wish I would've started like a week earlier... shipping during the holidays is not fast. :(

Oh well, it will force me to be patient!

I received my heater, some epoxy and power head today. The heater I am going to switch out for an Eheim Jager, heard the Hydor is crap so it will be used for water changes. I also have to order a different Jebao WP-10 power head as the one they sent is not working. It seems like it is "stuck" but if I spin the impeller it starts up but then gets stuck again if I use wave mode. Hoping my BRS order comes in soon so I can aquascape and start my cycle. Anyways Merry Christmas!

I'm sure there's an app you can use to adjust exposure and what not.

Here are some of the photos of my set up

I will be posting better photos when I get back to school. I had to come home for a week due to family issues. Luckily the tank is only cycling and my roommate said he would top it off everyday for me and notify me of any diatom bloom or other problems.

So today I was able to purchase the Smart Micro ATO, inTank media basket, some cleaning stuff, SeaChem Fusion one and two, some chemi pure elite, and some lenses for my phone to hopefully help take some sweet photos. I'm excited for the ATO because I will be missing some days at school due to sports and it will help me worry less. Anyways happy reefing!

Looking really good!

I really like that aquascape too. Should give you plenty of room for your corals to grow.

Thanks Droy008, I have a really hard time with aquascaping because I am so picky. Now I have to learn how to place corals lol.

Looks like you have a nice build coming along. I can't wait until I can actually get some live stock in mine!

Looks great! You did a really nice job with the rockscape, too :)

One idea, just based on personal preference, would be to get rid of some of the sand while it's still easy to do. When it's deep like yours is right now, it's hard to keep it stirred up and vacuumed. It builds up detritus and it will be harder to keep your nitrates down.

There are plenty of people who keep the sand bed deep like yours (including me in the past) and have been able to make it work. I'm just lazy :D

I was thinking about changing it out for some heavier sand. This fine stuff looks nice but if you do so much as look at it, it gets kicked up and blown around.

Yep, that's a great idea - I made that mistake too, now that I think back

Aragonite special blend is popular and it's the one I went with. It's fine enough to be pretty but heavy enough not to blow around.
