The E.O. Smith High School Coral project is proud to announce that it will be hosting the 9th annual New England Frag Farmer's Market at E.O. Smith High School in Storrs CT. It has grown into the biggest swap in the Northeast, bringing in 50+ coral "farmers" from all over the US. I have pretty much all the sellers from last year already signed up (including all the usual big guys) and a bunch of new ones as well. You get the best selection of corals and GREAT prices on frags for sure. All that and a great raffle as well.

I am also adding fragging demos during the day, given by an All-Star line up of fraggers, which should add to the event!

Admission is still only $5 for the day, with no advance tickets sold. The proceeds from the event go to support the coral propagation project I run at the school. I also started a scholarship last year and was able to give $500 to two graduating seniors who were going to pursue marine/conservation related fields- with hopes of being able to give more this year!

I do still have a few spots left if anyone is interested in setting up to sell for the day. It is a super low buy-in and low stress event- aimed at giving the hobbyists a chance to set-up and sell at a show next to the "big guys." Just get in touch soon as the spots will be full very soon!

I will post more details as things come together.

Thanks!

Jon

Quite a few. I added some bigger names as well to the list. Supreme Reefs is coming out, Blue Glow Aquatics is signed up. There are also a bunch of new smaller guys/gals coming out to sell as well.

This is such an awesome event. So many mind blowing corals, fish, clams (oh my God! The clams last year! Amazing), and equipment. Lots of big names, clubs, and local enthusiasts. It really is a good time even if you don't purchase anything. Great pricing all around. Hopefulyy I'll be in a better place to bring some stuff home this year.

I'd recommend donating more than the $5 cover. Fitch does some amazing things with his students. Some of the experiments his students come up with are pretty intense (he is fairly hands off and just provides guidance and helps them stay on track with the scientific process). I had the pleasure of attending a CTARS meeting where a few of his students presented their research projects and their findings. Very professional and quite knowledgable. They definitely took the lead in their learning and research. This event helps keep the classroom and research funded.

If you are questioning if the drive is worth it, the answer is YES.

Fitch, did you use superPhoto to make that? Came across the app in the photos section of one of the reef forums lastnight. Really fun.

Thanks for the good words. I actually didn't make the ad this year. I have a girl in my Oceanography course who wowed me with some of her projects so I asked if she would be interested in putting something together for me and she came up with that. It ended up being pretty cool because she is interested in graphic design and is going to use this, and this year's shirt design as part of her senior project.

Here is the "preliminary list" of sellers for the FFM so far. I apologize for any of the names/locations that are not completely correct - feel free to shoot me a PM to fix if needed. This list does not include any of the "I want to sell but have not paid in people" If you think you should be on here and are not - please let me know! I do still have room for a few more, if anyone wants in but hustle - I have more people who have said they want to sell than I have spaces left...

Thanks-

Jon

Ben from Supreme Reefs just sent me a few shots of his stuff that he was planning to bring along to the FFM. He is a new addition to the FFM and I am pretty psyched to see some of this in person!

Chris from Aquadreams in MA is going to be giving away a Red Sea Reefer tank at this year's FFM. Just stop by the Aquadreams booth and pick up a ticket- it's FREE!

I don't know if anyone in NR was on the fence about the FFM this year but I was up there last night for set-ups and I have to say it is easily the best year for coral selection. Every year I see stuff that I have never seen before, but this year was AMAZING! There are so many sellers with so many corals it was scary and the prices that I had talked to people about were GREAT. If you were even considering coming out to pick up a few frags, you should definitely make the trip this year. To add to it, the raffle is the best it has ever been with an Apex jr., Ecotech Radion, multiple frag tanks, lighting fixtures, Sea and Reef Fish, a ton of corals, and a HUGE host of other things - there are no containers of fish food here for sure!

Hope to see you all out today- stop by and say "Hi" while you are there!

Jon
