APLATN13
I have a spectra 90gpd kit but i need auto flush kit. spectra told me they dont sell it. So how can i upgrade it? Link to comment
JavaJacketOC
Marine depot has them for like 11.00 Link to comment
AZDesertRat
Rather than a flush kit that doesn't really do anything, install a DI bypass valve and flush the initial TDS creep out before it hits the DI. Flush kits install in the waste line, TDS creep is on the treated side of the membrane so flush kits don't solve this. It can be a simple john guest tee and ball valve or a 3 way ball valve. If you make water manually there is really no reason to automate it. Link to comment

The flush kit for my Spectrapure unit is installed in the waste line of the membrane and when the valve is open no water gets to the DI because there is no flow restriction. Isn't that doing what you've proposed? http://www.marinedepot.com/Reverse_Osmosis_System_Flush_Valve_Kit_Flush_Valves_for_RO_DI_Water_Filter_Systems-Captive_Purity-RO1313-FIRORAFL-vi.html I would just like to set and forget. http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/1-4-aquatec-8800-booster-pump-kit.html http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/aquatec-auto-flush-flow-restrictor.html ? Do you need a pressure booster? If not, the flush kit I linked above should be all you need. Spectrapure has videos on yourtube about installing the flush kit and why it's good. Link to comment
AZDesertRat
No, when you open the flush kit it bypasses the flow restrictor in the waste line and increases the flow a little, in theory it should scour the waste side of the membrane but in reality it doesn't do much if anything. TDS creep happens to all membranes when they are sitting still. What happens is RO water is agressive and always trying to get back to its natural "dirty" state so it pulls or osmoses the minerals (TDS) in the tap water on the waste side through the membrane to the treated side until it reaches a balance. Since it is now on the treated side no amount of flushing the waste side is going to get rid of it. This is why you need a DI bypass valve which you open each time you start the system for 30 seconds or so and flush that TDS creep out then close and make DI water. This extends the life of your DI significantly. Flush kits are a waste of money, the ONLY theing they are proven to do is lighten your wallet and give you a warm fuzzay feeling. DI bypass valves are proven to work and will pay for itself in the first DI replacement alone. Link to comment
reefist
I guess I will be turning my flush valve into a DI bypass valve. Thanks for the tip! Link to comment
