I just added live rock, salt water, and sugar fine sand. Also I added a small 10 watt heater and a external digital thermostat.

Changing the water in my 3 gallon is the easiest thing ever after having a 75g before.

5 gallon jug for water vs 20 gallon trash can and multiple 5 gallon buckets. Huge pain in the butt.

I'm not even bothering mixing my own these days. I've been doing 50-80% water changes every week just because it's so easy. I'd skip weeks at a time on my 75g and just dosed and skimmed rather than deal with it.

So count me in as "liking" to do water changes on my pico.

You are awesome! Love your Pico Jar and you have a beautiful FW Planted Tank and really neat FW Shrimp Bowl...

I just redid my jars and did a small shrimp bowl a month ago - will need to post them.

Where'd you find a 10w heater? Also, what are you using for light?

Nice to see another Pico Jar.

The heater is just a constant on betta heater. And the light is a quad bulp t5ho that is about 2 feet above the jar the light also lights my fluval spec 5 shrimp tank

Looking good, love the overflow. Nice shrimp, do they breed? I'm trying to get a colony of cherry shrimp going in my 5.

That shrimp tank hasent been up long enough for them to breed but I'm line breeding blue shrimp and cull out about 30 shrimp a month because they aren't blue because the blue shrimp are still throughing. Also if you want to breed have no fish in with them and put a prefilter on the intake of the filter

It's been awhile since I posted an update on the jar. It's still going great but the mantis I had in it got stuck in the filter and died. I have since glued in some mesh so nothing can go in the filter again. I have also gotten a second mantis and a couple new corals.
