Also forgot to mention. This tank has already been running for around 9 months now. Slowly stocked. A lot of the frags will be glued down soon as well.

Nice little tank you've got here. Also the mame protein skimmer is awesome!

Thanks! Yeah so far so good. Wet Skim but still breaking in. Will get some more pics and a video of it in action.

Finally mounted all my frags from the Legendary live sale as well. So lots more pics coming.

In the mean time i got this Scoly from a LFS. It was super cheap from what they normally are around here. Like 1/4 the price. I had to grab it.

No editing under blue lights.

This was taken with flash to show why i think it was so cheap. It has this thick encrusting coraline encroaching it. I chipped off some on the opposite side and it inflated more. I think i will do the same for this side you see in the pic below. Its really weird though as its extremely easy to remove unlike other coraline i have.

wet skim is partially due to breaking in, but there could also be other reasons like no ATO or if you're still using the cheap air controlling gauge they give you with the skimmer. That thing is crap, my skimmate got darker as soon as i switched it out with a more reliable twist top gauge, then i completely replace the need for one with the OXY-Pro pump. I have a review for the mame skimmer if you want some tips on it.

Good luck and happy reefing

awesome scolly, is it a mini?

Thanks, yeah the scold is pretty small which is great for my tank. I always see them much larger around me so i had to grab this. Also the price was a factor too as it was super cheap.

I have read your review on the skimmer and it was very informative. I used some of the tips when setting it up. Right now i do have ato but its on a timer so not 100% accurate. Have the ATO micro on the way. Im using a regular screw type air controller but I'm looking into the pump you mentioned. Just a little pricey for an air pump. Worth it?

The oxypro is putting in work and its silent, everyone different, but for me the air pump was 100% worth.

May be a bit overkill but just snagged a Maxspect Razor 120W to replace my Razor Nano. Everything has looked significantly better with the razor, however there is still some shadowing. With one puck over each island i think this will beat the shadows and keep me from buying new lights every month. :P Pics over tank will come once she's here.

MR. AQUA 17.1 Gallon tank came in yesterday. Props to Marine Depot for the insane packaging.

Will start posting pics of the upgrade process.

Have started by painting the bottom with sand colored spray paint. I always go bare bottom for ease of cleaning with my small tanks. Will post pics later tonight.

SAME THREAD

Switching up to the MR Aqua 17.1 gallon. Couldn't resist and Marine Depot was having the 20% off sale so why not?

I spray painted the bottom of the tank with sand colored/textured paint. I always go bare bottom for some reason. Think this will look nice

Adding wood panels to my old metal stand to dress it up.

First time creating a corner like this. Just for my room so I'm pretty happy.

I always paint the back of my tanks black. Going a different route this time in case i want to go back to clear.

Hooked up in the Fluval Spec for now. Once I get my all in one from Ocean Box i will have all tubes in the back.

I have it set with the sensor in the rear pump chamber and the water tube in the overflow. Keeps it stable from the wave maker.

Maybe ill make a line with marker as I'm switching tanks but you can use that old black light clip as reference.

Will report back tomorrow and try to get some coral shots too!

Reporting back with pics for the micro top off water level. Very impressed so far. As i said above i have the sensor in the return chamber and the water tube in the over flow. I was concerned it wouldn't register fast enough but i was wrong. I was away the second night so i missed that picture.

Day 1 (I also slightly overfilled after water change 1-2 mm so it may seem a tad bit higher in this pick. Day 3 pic was how the water line looked when it kicked on the first time that night.

Day 3(Slightly different angle pic but look at the black mount. Pretty dead on. Salinity hasn't changed.)

Finally got a FTS that is somewhat accurate of color. Need to get a gel filter. I just turned my whites up for these. (You wills why i needed the Mr Aqua upgrade.

I like how you mounted the blastis.

Your having to get imaginative with all them coral. ;)

Are you concerned that the zoas might get stung? Looking forward to how this works out.

They have been ok so far. When i transfer to new tank I may take apart and spread them out.

Speaking of. basically ready. Just need aio insert.

Will be using window curtain instead of doors for the bottom opening.

(This is not where the tank will be. This is my basement which before we re-carpet/redo is my workshop) :D

Tried my shot at some shots of the tank with my yellow shooting glasses lol. Didn't work out too bad. Everything that is yellow should be more orange red.

The zoas are insanely bright. I know that you're using a lense, but still they look great!

I know, they are more orange in real life. Working on my pics. Gel filters are in order.

Thanks though!

Biggest seam was at the bottom as i rested the insert on the silicone beads of the aquarium.

(I think its a dam sexy bead if i dose so myself B) )

Light makes this look so dirty. Just need to wipe off residual silicone. Those white specks come right off the acrylic.

Now i wait for the cure!

Huge Question: It will be 24hours at 6:00 pm tonight. Do i go for the transfer?Or wait for another day or so. I barely smell the vinegar smell anymore. Jeez I'm so antsy lol.
