Tamberav
There is something about small tanks I just love. I notice the life stirring in them more-so than larger tanks. The asterina starfish, stomatella snails, even pods become the center of attention. Tamberav
The tank has been running just two weeks now and stocked way too fast I got it up just days before a frag swap using a piece of rock from one of my other tanks. The stippled clingfish will be a permanent resident but the wheelers goby is temporary and this tank is more or less serving as a QT tank for him before he goes into the 45g. I bought an awesome package of goodies from another member on nano-reef: Day 1: And now: Young tank stocked fast = some cyano. Hopefully it will clear up with water changes and phosguard. I fragged my frags I bought at the swap and added some to this tank to see how they would do. The sexy shrimp are picking at some of the birdnests and irritating them. The ones they haven't touched are doing well. 12 Quote Link to comment

Tamberav
Coral croucher? Pygmy spotted file fish? Possum Wrasse? Possum or pink streak... or greenbanded gobies.. are on my mind. yay, i love my spec v...it's sooo easy. For sure.... 2g water changes make me want to get rid of my big tanks. Maintenance is sooo fast! Faster movin, young lady! Looks good though. I want a closeup of the clingfish! Yeah, next frag swap was May and hell if I was going to look at an empty rock that long. My good camera broke but I'll try and get some sort of photo. He is an easy keeper, had him in the big tank a few months already. I just use tweezers to dangle Mysis in front of him and he'll slurp them down. He was a $15 Petco find. 1 Quote Link to comment
Sunar357
One reason i'm getting rid of the 40 and going to the 25. It doesn't seem like much of a size difference but add in 29 sump on the 40 and water changes were a lot bigger than i'll need on the 25. Keeping it 'simple' with an AIO now. Thinking of a Tanaka, Possum or pink streak for my new tank as well. I'm sure one would look awesome in this tank. 1 Quote Link to comment

They wag their tails when excited which is pretty cute. So far, he seems disease resistant since the deathco had ich and brook, his tankmate in QT perished from brook but this guy never had any signs. Slime layer perhaps. 5 Quote Link to comment
Tamberav
Well it's been decided. I have been wanting this pictus for ages and it popped up in DD today. They also had this: and a Bruun's cleaner shrimp, supposedly these shrimp are 1 inch? Couldn't find much info so kind of taking a leap on this one. 11 Quote Link to comment

gulfsurfer101
Looks like your off to a great start! Definitely top of the line gear! I hear you on the wow factor the smaller tanks provide. Just going back to my 20l from my 75g was enough to get me excited about the hobby all over again! I'll be keeping it up and run my 75g as well. One thing I said I wouldn't when I upgraded, lol! 1 Quote Link to comment
Tamberav
Put my nano-box duo over it a few days ago. Going to swap the wp10 for a mp10 because my husband says the wp10 is too loud. 2 Quote Link to comment
gulfsurfer101
Lol, they are a little loud! Coming home to a dark an empty house when you hear the purring of a wp and go wtf is that, lol! We just recently moved out to a more rural area and me and the wife were not sure if it was some racoon or something waiting to ambush us in the dark lol! 1 Quote Link to comment
Tamberav
The new cleaner shrimp is pretty cool. Doesn't steal food so far but accepts it off the tongs. He is an inch big. WP10 for size! Fish all arrived alive but I didn't get home till late so they all went to bed I guess. Saw them peaking at me before I left this afternoon. 7 Quote Link to comment

Tamberav
Nice start! That cleaner shrimp is adorable - now I want one! They have one waiting for you on diver's den They wave their bodies around to advertise their cleaning services (or so I read). http://www.liveaquaria.com/DiversDen/ItemDisplay.cfm?c=2733+4&ddid=290469 My hubby likes your avatar. teenyreef
Thanks! I love my GBG's, I have two in each tank I'm going to keep my eye open for cleaner shrimp at the LFS. Last time I was there I asked if they had any tailspot blennies or pom pom crabs, and they magically appeared in the next shipment. Just picked them up tonight 1 Quote Link to comment
Tamberav
Well, my cat tossed my nanobox duo in the water... eeek. It was actually working under water! However, I broke some of the leds while frantically trying to pry the heat-sink out to dry it off. Oops! The only spot of rust is on the fan. I had been thinking about upgrading to v3/limes. So I guess that settles that. I lost 1 coral in the mishap, 1 broke, and 1 has some dead skeleton where the pissed off nem stung it. I tore the tank apart and made a proper conduit pipe to hang lighting from. It has two par 30's over it till I can get my light done (Dave is swamped right now I think). I also tore down my 45g cube tank. I decided I only wanted 1 big tank. I had to remove the blenny/pygmy wrasse from this tank and put them in my 40B where they are doing really well! I then added my two clowns from the 45g to this tank. Tank is a little small for mama clown but I didn't want to put her in the dark sump (My 40B already has clowns). Here is how the tank looks atm: 6 Quote Link to comment
Sunar357
I've found your problem...apparently you own a cat! That really stinks though...fortunately you didn't lose a lot. 4 Quote Link to comment
teenyreef
Sorry about the light but at least you are getting an upgrade out of it 1 Quote Link to comment
Tamberav
I'm pretty dumb btw. When I saw the light underwater I stuck my hands right in and pulled it out. Didn't get zapped though. I do have everything plugged into a portable GFCI outlet because I do dumb things like this without thinking but it didn't trip either. Years ago, I had a heater crack unknowingly in a mixing bucket and I got zapped, felt it travel up my arm. Luckily I had been mixing it in the bathroom which has built in GFCI. It tripped. After that I put all my water stuff on GFCI outlets. Sorry about the light but at least you are getting an upgrade out of it Ha! ya, cat made the decision easy. I think the limes will help a lot since I have to run the lights on a pretty low setting to not fry everything. Should brighten everything up. I've found your problem...apparently you own a cat! That really stinks though...fortunately you didn't lose a lot. Two of them! They are bengals so they get into everything!! My older female (spotted) is about 9 years old but has as much energy as a kitten. They never stop being brats! The male (the one with all the black) was a animal shelter rescue cat from a bad situation. Took him a long time to trust people again. Pics for Kat ' 9 Quote Link to comment
