Return pump connection?

Hey guys,

 

I am trying to put together a custom filter and need some help on the plumbing issue that Ive run into. Right now, I have a pump with a return size of ½ female that can fit either a 3/8 or 9/16 hose. What I would like to do is cut out a hole on an acrylic sheet, connect the return outlet of the pump from one side and have locline on the other side.

 

From my limited knowledge, Im thinking the order would go something like this.

Pump return outlet, some type of connection, some kind of bulkhead, and then locline?
