Keepswimmin
Just jumped on the band wagon. Starting up my old 40B again after being semi-homeless for the last 6 months. These lights are super bright and after I finished getting everything up I'll do a proper review. However, I have a question. Due to the fact my apartment is essentially a remodeled attic the ceilings are slanted and wall to ceiling space is low, so due to that fact the tank has to sit away from the wall about 5 inches and I'm having issues mounting the lights. I thought about a plant wall mount that goes out but it would put the lights essentially right on top of the tank which I don't want. Does anyone know if it would be an issue if the lights only covered the back 3/4ths of the tank? I can mount them on the wall but the wouldn't be dead center over the tank. Link to comment
jedimasterben
Can you not make a light hangar that attaches to the tank stand? Link to comment
Keepswimmin
I could but that would require me to build a canopy and such as the layout is there is little room above the tank opening if I did that. I was able to mount them like this. I think it should work as it would cover a majority of where the tank will sit. Link to comment
mystersyster
Get L brackets from home depot. The long 12 inch ones. Mount to the drywall using a stud or wall hangers. Hang your light from the brackets. Link to comment
jedimasterben
Yep, or shelf brackets. 10 minutes and done. Link to comment
JavaJacketOC
I used one of these to hold a razor nano. As long as you mount it into a stud or use good wall anchors you should be able to get it evenly over the tank. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Richelieu-Hardware-16-in-White-Heavy-Duty-Shelf-Bracket-494W16B/202205510 Home depot has a pack of 8 #12 wall screws with anchor and drill bit for like 7.00, worked perfect for the L bracket above. Keepswimmin
Thanks. So from the consensus i see the current set up won't work? The light needs to be centered? Link to comment
jedimasterben
I would center it. It's easy to do and will look much better in the tank. Link to comment
