So here's the dilemma, I have an aqua clear 70 and I want it to hold my heater, thermometer, chemical media, and macro algae. Oh, lets not forget the skimmer! I have solved half of these issues already, I have created a spot for everything but the skimmer and the idea is to have a hang-on-back skimmer hanging on the back of the aqua clear... lol... Has anyone tried this? HOB skimmers are usually better than pico/nano internal skimmers and they don't need to be in the tank, this saves room in the AC70 because the skimmer will be hanging on the back of it rather than in it. I'm attempting to shrink a sump into this AC70 so that I don't see ugly equipment taking up room in my tank. If I actually do pull off hanging a skimmer off of my AC70 I'll make sure to post pictures and everyone can laugh at how funny it looks

you have to be absolutly sure that the AC70 can take up and drain enough water to run both pieces of equipment at the same time, just put the HOB skimmer next to the AC70, its easier and you dont have to worry about flow and drain rates.

Haha yes having the skimmer beside the AC70 would probably be a lot more simple although the AC70 is 8.25" long and my tank is 10" long so unfortunately that wouldn't work. BUT!!! Today I was feeling creative and made my own DIY skimmer that fits in the AC70 xD it doesn't work (right now) because the air stones are ceramic not wood so the bubbles are huge. I'll probably go out this weekend and get some lime wood airstones from big als or something, but so far this skimmer has costed me $0 and doesn't leak micro bubbles into the tank!
