koreandrama
deciding on lighting for a 10" deep tank. i want to try and go back to T5s or MH. I am thinking about used 24" tek 4 bulb since its more affordable but can it compare to 250w MH? Link to comment
mrbigshot
depends on the halide reflector but absolutely. it can even beat it many times. 10" is really shallow and a good 4 bulb t5 will be pushing almost to much light. Link to comment
koreandrama
how are the reflectors on the older trek fixtures does anybody know? i don't really know about par numbers and what but looking light a small frag with the equivalent of a 250 mh with t5 since the trek fixture makes financially sense. but if the numbers aren't going to be there no choice but to go mh Link to comment
Reefkid88
I don't think the 4 bulbs would beat a 250w halide, but surely be enough to grow sps even with t5's. I've had a FNI 4 bulb fixture and on a 8" deep tank about 6" off the water surface (14" all together) I was getting 200 par at the bottom of the tank with a bulb combo of 2 B+,1 C+ and a Actinic and I had no problem growing and keeping sps colored up,if that helps at all. I know the reflectors on my light aren't high end compared to ATI and Tek but they're decent. Link to comment
