How much does a large hermit eat?

So I am shutting down my 60G and it has a monster size hermit crab in it....the thing has systematically killed every snail over the course of a year and it is the size of a turbo snail -- hes huge!

I moved him into the refugium in the sump of my new tank. How much do you think he needs to eat to live?

One pellet every few days?

Maybe eventually I'll get rid of him, but I always feel bad killing living creatures ya know?

Never understood why people comment without answering the question haha... anyway I have a few small hermits, scarlet, blue leg, zebras, and they will eat just about a pellet a day. Any time pellets float to the bottom they are happy to have a snack!

I would say a pellet a day is 'enough to survive' but enough to actually give him a full meal? I don't know about that. If my bigger hermits catch a piece of krill they will devour it in no time so clearly they can handle more than a pellet a day. I sometimes worry that they aren't getting enough and all my blues eventually died out, as well as most of my zebras. Only the scarlets seem to prevail with little food - at least in my experience - but I don't know exactly how much they could consume to have 'full bellies' so to speak.

If your sump is lit and has other life in it, then they will prolly just graze.

I feed mine 1-5 medium Lps pellets and they are small. I feed so they don't attack the corals eating.

They also like those algae wafers by hilarious meant for fresh water plecos. That would keep him busy for awhile. Shrimp like to steal them back and forth with the hermits.
