NanoReefer27
So I was walking in the room with my tank last night and I turned on the lights (I had turned the aquarium lights out about 2 hours before) and noticed little tiny bug like creature crawling around on my rock. They are about 1 mm long and crawl like ants. I saw some people had clearish ones like this called copepods but mine are actually a brown color. I have a good amount of them too. I tried to ID them but they are just too small to see what exact bodily structure they have. Any ideas? Also, I started with ENTIRELY dead materials. How could these get into my tank? All I have is 6 hermits, 3 fish. Thanks guys! Link to comment
dingusplease
Most likely amphipods. They come in many shades of brown and grey, and sometimes clear. Copepods are generally about that size too, so could be either one. Amphipods are usually 4-5cm long, and look like tiny gray shrimp. Copepods generally look more like tiny transparent or brown specks. Link to comment
NanoReefer27
but these things are extremely tiny, and the closer I look, they are actually out right now, in the light. They are about 1 mm long Also, what would eat these besides fish? Would a shrimp or hermit crabs eat them? Link to comment
