dadummy
it's only expensive if someone buys it, and the sad part is someone probably will just another maricultured paly, just not as readily available, yet!! http://goldenmarindo.com/product/show/42/zoanthus-big-polyps Link to comment

Spiderguardnano
They have never sold for $1k the most it went so far was $550 via auction Having cornbred or wwc adds value and holds value better then something with no linage Link to comment
uwharrie
So Corals have pedigrees? They have never sold for $1k the most it went so far was $550 via auction Having cornbred or wwc adds value and holds value better then something with no linage Link to comment
Pinner Reef
Not quite... here's a couple of zoa frags that went fir $2500 awhile ago.http://reefbuilders.com/2013/09/25/record-2425-2polyp-palythoa-frag-reminds-zp-collectors-business/ Edit:one of them is a Kracktoa. Link to comment
spectra
Yeah those go for around 300 on auction. We have a local coral seller here that has the same thing. And I agree on the photoshop! Link to comment
Spiderguardnano
So Corals have pedigrees? If they didn't then people wouldn't be paying 2-3x the price for linage pieces Link to comment
uwharrie
Interesting. Having shown and bred both dogs and horses I know the value of pedigrees in predicting offsprings potential quality. Just never thought it would pertain to corals. If they didn't then people wouldn't be paying 2-3x the price for linage pieces Link to comment

Yes it does for example a world wide corals bounce mushroom just sold for 6k a couple of weeks ago But there will be same exact mushroom that wouldn't b touch that price because of the linage issue Link to comment
dadummy
They have never sold for $1k the most it went so far was $550 via auction Having cornbred or wwc adds value and holds value better then something with no linage here's the lineage http://goldenmarindo...thus-big-polyps LFS store got a delivery of discs, they found three krak's in the whole shipment. There's a wholesaler in Miami that brings them in, and from what I heard they jack the prices up too. That's a lot of dough for a maricultured polyp, I highly doubt they were grown out in captivity. Have to sell them before they melt t Link to comment
uwharrie
So I assume the value is in the fact that those with " known" lineage will breed true. Not just that it is a rare color or pattern? Yes it does for example a world wide corals bounce mushroom just sold for 6k a couple of weeks ago But there will be same exact mushroom that wouldn't b touch that price because of the linage issue Link to comment
