Andreww
What's up with the feather dusters? I had about 10 on my live rock when I started my tank about 2 months ago and now they're big and popping up all over the live rock starting to form colonies . Just saw one growing on the back glass. Is that a good thing or not? I've also noticed some type of web like thing released from the center of the dusters. Pretty weird... Link to comment
mystersyster
Feather dusters are known to multiply like crazy. Once they have enough reproductions they will start to develop a hive type mind. This mind will eventually turn into something called the gravemind. This is very dangerous because gravemind will attempt to take over everyones mind and gain knowledge from them. Gravemindes ultimate goal is to feed. And his food is sentient life. I quote the great Arbiter, "A single flood (feather duster) spore can destroy a species." Link to comment
dadummy
very interesting!!??!! sure they are feather dusters? pics? chances are you will introduce a fish or shrimp into the tank that will eat them. Six line wrasse or peppermint shrimp will probably do the trick, not that I recommend keeping a sixline Link to comment

aquarium
These guys are harmless filter feeders that are a sign of a healthy reef. They often come in cool colors. I had a red one once Link to comment
