uwharrie
Well little Blenny scared the crap out of me last night. Came home to him hanging ( sideways) over the return. I thought for sure he was dead. And was like well damn, he was super active during the day, actually finally coming out of his hole to swim around a bit. Grabbed a flashlight and hubby went to grab said "dead" fish only to find out he was very much alive. This am he was hanging in the corner upside down. cut the lights on and he went back in his regular hole. I guess he just wanted a change of scenery for a bit. 1 Quote Link to comment
PieMan2k
On that zoa frag the green ones are radioactive dragon eyes and the other orange ones are black cherries. 1 Quote Link to comment
uwharrie
wow, thanks! I nor the LFS knew. it was one of those "bargain" frags! On that zoa frag the green ones are radioactive dragon eyes and the other orange ones are black cherries. So any clue what this may be? Quote Link to comment
PieMan2k
they look to be Blue Panamas. 1 Quote Link to comment
uwharrie
RIP Peppermint Shrimp. He was actually starting to come out with the lights on. Found him dead this am. Not sure why. Water parameters are still good 0 Ammonia o Nitrites <2 Nitrates 1.026 sal Quote Link to comment
uwharrie
Tank update Still not sure if the Coral Beauty has ich or not. Almost looked like the fin spots came and then went within 48 hrs. Planning on discussing diagnosis and treatment when I visit the LFS this week. This morning saw the explosion of what I am pretty sure is Copapods I guess that means the tank is healthy? Corals are doing great. My plan is to add a few more Zoas, a couple of Ricordea and a RFA ( or two) 1 Quote Link to comment
uwharrie
talked with the LFS where the Angel came from. Said it was not Ich as it was just a few fin spots, but more likely fungal due to stress. Said to give it time to heal ( which is what I was thinking to begin with) Quote Link to comment
uwharrie
Added today. Red Montipora, Blue Ricordea, Green Trumpet, yet unknown Zoa and a RFA 1 Quote Link to comment
uwharrie
Question on placement- Is the Montepora to close to the Frogspawn? My Pipe Organ is about the same distance as well. So far the Frogspawn has not seemed to bother the other corals but I understand they can be agressive Quote Link to comment
uwharrie
Anyone?? Quote Link to comment
HIppieRose
Sorry no idea. Quote Link to comment
HarryPotter
Frogspawn can have sweepers tentacles but those are typically about 2", the placement looks fine to me. If anything you could make sure the flow would blow the tentacles away from your montipora. 1 Quote Link to comment

uwharrie
Found the Coral Beauty on the bottom of the tank this am. RIP pretty fish. will not be getting any more Angels now that I know more about them. Quote Link to comment
Pinner Reef
Sorry to hear about the Coral Beauty. They're not good for a 29g anyways. Think more along the lines of a Flameback... much smaller. Also, maybe, move the pipe oregon down lower. It'll handle lower light and not take up as much realestate. Save the primetime spots for your favorite corals. Quote Link to comment
Sunar357
Cap should be fine until it grows a ton and/or the frog does and then...we'll see? lol You can always frag as needed though as well. Sorry about the CB. I personally stay away from angels as well as they can clean up on LPS and/or clams. Quote Link to comment
Elizabeth94
Keep a close eye on that monti. I had a red flowerpot coral in my old tank that got stung by one pretty bad. They were about 2.5" apart and the flower pot was higher up than the frogspawn. Everything was fine for about three months, then the frogspawn decided it did not want a neighbor and burned it pretty bad.. It never recovered and eventually died. Here they are for your own idea of distance. Small pic I know, I cropped it from the rest of the tank. However, the big difference here is that my flow was from right to left of that pic, so the frogspawn sweepers were pushed towards the flower pot. Not sure if flow in the other direction would have been better.. Oh well Quote Link to comment
uwharrie
I am looking at moving the Monti up to the back wall. ( on the right between the intakes) I understand they do well attached to tank structures. Quote Link to comment
