Is Aquamaxx HOB-1 Overkill for 25 gallon reef?

Looking for a nano skimmer for me mixed reef. Looking to keep some sps.

Wonder if the Aquamaxx would be an overkill for my 25 gallon?

id say bigger is better so long as you can dial it in to get the skimmate you want. if you end up pulling out too much you can turn it off a while.

I ran a Vertex Omega 130 on a 23g tank. No issues.

You can use an oversized skimmer but for optimal performance its best to size the skimmer accordingly.

That skimmer is an excellent choice for that size tank...I work in the industry and manage the salt water section of a LFS and I run into the dilemma of companies over rating their skimmer capacity all the time. That skimmer is recommended by Aquamaxx for tanks up to 75 gallons but practically speaking, depending on tank dimensions 40 gallons would be pushing it in my opinion for that skimmer, so for a 25 gallon again excellent choice.
