Update, it's been almost a year since I started this 10 gallon. Livestock still alive (knock on wood). My purple firefish has gone carpet surfing three times. Once was its fault, second was when I was shifting the rock around and third time my clown was bullying it I think while I was doing some tank maintenance.

- Modified the back chamber by removing the inner baffle and lower false wall. Added a acrylic baffle to it.

- Added a Tunze 9001 skimmer

- Added a MP10 and using stock pump return

- Added some corals and a RBTA

- Dosing NOPOX - nitrates are undetectable but still got some phosphates I could lower more

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Started this tank in July then got a little busy with life. Was battling nitrate issue and still ongoing somewhat. My Nuvo 20 started off smoothly but this tank just had nitrate issue from the start but it's getting better. I want to get some coral but will have to wait until parameters are better.

My fire shrimp was shy the first two weeks and now he is out and about like he owns the place. The clownfish keeps him in check and they often get in a duel stance for the last pellet. My firefish is very shy and is in the cave most of the time so I couldn't get a picture. The snail is somewhere in the sand.

Is it an IM skimmer? How did you mount the MJ900 to keep it from viberating and making all the noise

It's an air stone protein skimmer by coralife. It's okay for now ($40 total) but I couldn't stand the ghost skimmer noise level. I guess it's annoying for any skimmer but when I turn off the pumps to feed, I have to wait till the back chambers level down then turn back on skimmer or else it overflows.

I didn't mount the MJ900, just make sure it's not touching the wall. I remember having that problem when I first installed it. I may have also trimmed the tube a bit too so it prevents the pump from moving too far to hit the wall. Kind of like a straight straw pressed against the bottom glass is the best analogy I can describe.

I'm new to this so I don't know how to ask a question/custom thread or whatever so I need to ask something. I need to clean my tank & I have a bumble bee shrimp that went into the filter compartment. How do I get it out?

I need to clean the tank TODAY, so I need answers fast!

I assume it's not just hanging out on top of the filter basket? It may have gone into the second or 3rd chamber by now.

I'd think turning off your return pump and removing the basket would he the first step. And locating the little guy.

Maybe some food and a strip of filter floss to get the shrimp to grab on?

Balix, nice job and nice looking aquarium. I have t b email same led light you have. What are your settings? Do you plan corals? I'm having trouble dialing in the AI light settings. Also, again, how did you fit that size pump in the chamber? And lastly, how does the ATO work for you? Really like your setup!
