New Mr Aqua 12 Gallon Long lighting Question

Hi All,

I am starting a Mr Aqua 12 Gallon long and was planning on using the Current Orbit Marine Pro Led lights. My question is, do you agree with this light, if not, why and should I do the 24"-36" or the 36"-48" which has way more LED's and may be too much light.

TIA,

Phil

The 36-48" If it will fit without issues, should not be too much light for that tank. I am sure it will look great, specially since you do have control of the intensity.

I have the same length tank (Mr. Aqua 22L), but with a custom 36" nanobox, and I also thought it would be overkill, but I have no regrets getting a light that is the same length as the tank, personally I think it looks much cleaner.

Get the 36-48" Current Orbit Marine. The pro is not necessary with the shallowness of the 12g long, even with the deeper 22g long. I have the Current Orbit Marine over my 12g long and I am able to grow multiple SPS, including acros at the top of my rocks (about 3 inches from the surface of the water, 4 inches from the light). If you want to spend that much for the Pro, I would get some other high end LED's like the Nanobox or a Radion.

I recently(ish) started the same tank with the Orbit Marine non-pro version 36-48". The Pro had just come out at the time and I considered it, but I thought the original version had a sleeker look than the Pro and for less than half the price figured it was worth a shot. Since the tank is so shallow, it seems to have plenty of output to penetrate to the bottom. In that tank, once you've got the sand, the deepest your water will be is only about 8". The light fits the length of the tank perfectly and give great coverage. And like pewpewkittah, I've got some acros in the top half that are doing well with it.
