Mail-In Water Tests, Build Rock Structures and Improve Flow

Cool idea, but awfully expensive. I guess is someone is having an outbreak in algae and hasn't fixed it they can get silica and other things tested, which normally aren't regularly tested. For that price, someone could buy test kits and have the chemicals to test over fifty times.

Not sure what kind of test you guys are using though. For all I know it could be done in a laboratory with top quality equipment, nothing like our home test kits. Guess someone has to be a guinea pig!

Edit: That NYOS Cement looks awesome. Wish this post was made a week ago, I would have bought this to put my rockscape together instead of that stupid stick epoxy.

So is it $46.99 for a 1 time test?

Correct. We do not necessarily view this as a replacement for home water testing. But perhaps you'd like to ensure your test kits are providing accurate readings by having your water tested semi-annually using lab-grade equipment. Or if you are experiencing issues with your tank, for example.

Testing Parameters*
  • Ca - Calcium
  • Alk - Alkalinity
  • Mg - Magnesium
  • NH3-4 - Ammonia
  • NO2 - Nitrite
  • NO3 - Nitrate
  • PO4 - Phosphate
  • I - Iodine
  • K - Potassium
  • Sr - Strontium
  • Mo - Molybdenum
  • CU++ - Copper
  • SiO2-3 - Silica

*Upon receiving your test kit package, you will also have the option to purchase Fe (Iron) and/or B (Boron) tests for an additional fee.

I used epoxy for my aquascape as well, so I am interested to hear how folks like using the cement. NYOS' demo video is pretty persuasive.

Great feedback, Harry. I just provided a screenshot of your post to our Aqua Medic buyer to pass along to them.

Uh oh am I in trouble? :scarry:

I would love to try out the test for them if they had a sample haha, I just was wondering why its the same price for less.

Not at all! We are appreciative of this new information and feel better informed about what options are available to hobbyists. I can't speak on their behalf, although I believe Aqua Medic will feel the same.

Its called watching for opportunity. If theres a new product out there, I would be happy to try it out and give them some feedback :)
