Oneslowsaleen
zSo not doing proper research I had bought a tiger pistol shrimp, and than watchmen goby they paired up quite nicely. I also had a Pygmy file fish in my tank who was fat and healthy. One day I woke up to my file fish dead in the tiger shrimps cave. Not only that I've lost two corals to him, they were on frag plugs and the shrimp dragged them into the cave , they were 5$ frags so I wasn't tearing my rock work apart to get them. So I think I'm switch my tiger pistol out with a more peaceful pistol any suggestions? Link to comment
joy13
Pistol shrimp will be pretty much all be the same. Chances are your file fish was already dead and it was doing its job as a scavenger. I know I have lost several frags to my pistol shrimp interior design. Mine held a hermit captive for a few weeks before it escaped, snails are taken in one entrance and tossed out another. They must be pretty long lived I have had mine for about 5 years. Link to comment

I have a candy PS inside my fusion 10G and it's living happily with my YWMG. I would go to the LFS and try to trade the TPS for a CPS. Link to comment
Oneslowsaleen
I think I may just do that. Link to comment
tetraodon
my advice is provide odd frag plugs and many different shapes of small rocks and shells near were the pistol is. they use stuff like that to construct tunnels, thats one way of protecting your frags Link to comment
Andreww
Yup, my TPS is doing its job in my tank as well. Has like 3-4 entrances and tunnels under my biggest piece of live rock. The goby and him paired up from day two. I see him 2 times a day or so, mostly when the lights are dim. He digs and turns sand constantly which is beneficial but also annoying when he decides to make sandstorms in my tank, blasting sand over my brain coral. Good luck trying to catch him. You'll end up taking every piece of live rock out to get him. Link to comment
smeagol108
agree with the rest of the group, a candy cane (sometimes called red banded) pistol are much smaller than tigers. I normally crush up some rock with a hammer and drop outside burrow and they are gone a few minutes later or by th enext morning. this ensure ample building materials for them. Link to comment
