al404
Just got this nice little fish, is about one week is in my tank, and he likes very much to sit over the koralia even if i have 3 sinularia he eats but most of the time just sit over the power head and than move over the heater power cord it doesn't really swim, it doesn't seem seem stressed but just lazy :-D i also saw a green clown goby not sure if adding an the goby would make it more active? what about an other yellow one? i have 15G tank Link to comment
Tamberav
They fight with their own kind so don't add more, not even another color. They are a perching fish so "sitting around" is normal behavior for them. Their fins are like suction cups that they use to attach to surfaces. Link to comment
Rduboid1117
At least yours stays out in the open! All mine does is hide in his cave all day until feeding time. Then hides again until the next feeding time! Link to comment
SunWyrm
Mine hides as well, and in a pico that's just unacceptable. Traded a reclusive GBG for this guy even. But yeah, lazy is just what they do. The only active, personable goby I've had are neon gobies. Link to comment
al404
i thought that YCG was active, I chose the one that was swimming al LFS hopping to see more movement For nano tank there are not much swimming fish most need too much space or they need to be in school or they grow too big Link to comment

They don't swim but they hop/scoot everywhere. My greenbanded goby was all over the place...hop... hop... hop. Masked gobies hover, swim and perch. A royal gramma or firefish will hover in the open. Tailspot blennys also perch but tend to intermittently swim and respond to their owners. Clownfish swim, or a springers damsel... or a pygmy wrasse will all be swimming. There are options for active fish... just a YCG isn't one of them Link to comment
al404
thanks, as far as i know royal gramma and damsel get really aggressive in small tank greenbanded goby is very nice Link to comment
Tamberav
thanks, as far as i know royal gramma and damsel get really aggressive in small tank greenbanded goby is very nice They can stinkers but I would say it depends what they are housed with. A gramma with a clown generally wouldn't be a problem since a clown can hold its own and wouldn't care about the gramma's cave... but I wouldn't keep a gramma with a firefish. Many people report springer's damsels are less aggressive than other damsels. I have no experience with that particular fish though. If you don't want to take any chances, cardinals would be peaceful and a randall's assesor basslet or gold basslet would be peaceful as well and always swimming. I had the gold one years ago and it was an extremely personable fish. They also sometimes swim upside down Just ideas to give you more activity. Link to comment
