Consolidating 4 tanks into 1

PDR

Recommended Posts

Ok, so having 6 tanks is starting to wear on me. I would really like to consolidate 4 of them into 1 larger tank but I'm not sure how feasible it would be and would like some help. I know there is some incompatibility with the fish in the separate tanks, but I am ok getting rid of some if needed.

The fish from the the four tanks in no particular order:

4 ocellaris clowns (2 pair from 2 different tanks)

1 tomato clown

2 pink bar gobies (pair)

1 helfrichi firefish

1 red firefish (currently lives with the helfrichi peacefully)

1 purple firefish

2 bartletts anthias

1 rainford goby

1 lawnmower blenny

1 dusky jawfish

1 royal gramma

1 yellow watchman goby

1 azure damselfish

Most of these are still fairly small/juvenile

I would like to add as many of these into a 75g tank with 30g sump.

From a compatibility standpoint, what do you think would be ok together long term in that size tank?

Thanks

  • 2 weeks later...

So a lot has happened since this was posted, and I have lost several fish. After a long discussion with the wife we decided to consolidate all the tanks and get a Reefer 350. I have gotten more comfortable with getting rid of some of my fish. Here is what I am currently thinking for the Reefer.

2 ocellaris clowns (pair)

2 pink bar gobies (pair)

2 bartletts anthias

1 lawnmower blenny

1 dusky jawfish

1 royal gramma

1 azure damselfish (very peaceful)

What happened to your fish?

I had 3 jump in the last 2 weeks. 2 jumped the same time/day out of an impossibly small gap, and landed on the screen top. Would have been fine if it was an open top... Then I had another that had been sick for several weeks, died in qt. I have 5 fish that I would be trading in at the lfs.

So I've been putting an equipment list together and was wondering if there was any reason not to run 3-4 heaters. I currently have 2 100w and 3 75w neotherm heaters. I love these heaters but don't want to go larger due to the issues with the 150w and 200w versions. The 100w are only rated at 29 gallons, so I would need to run 2 100w and 1-2 75w for this size tank. Any reason not to?

Wow, I'm impressed with the number of tanks you were trying to keep going. I OCD like crazy over my nano right now and the most I've had at once is two.

Yeah it got out of control. I was spending 15-20 hours a week on my tanks. I run my own business and make my own hours and it was getting to the point I would make my work schedule around stuff I had to do with the tanks lol.
