I use red sea coral pro salt.

so all the params are normal with that salt,

after five days my calcium dropped to 370ppm so i know i have to dose calcium

however, my alk/kh rises. my kh is at 15.7 doh and alk is at 5.59 meq/l

i do not dose anything at the moment. so what would cause it to raise so much? shouldn't it be dropping

Your tank stats would be a great help (like gallons, corals, tank maturity, etc). Also, how much does your alk rise in what time frame? Did you do anything to the water between readings? What test kit are you using?

You should really start a tank thread. It would be much easier for people to see details about your tank- your responses would be much more detailed and specific ;)

Howdy,

What is in the tank, how long has it been setup, fish load, coral load, gallons, etc.

KH cannot rise on its own so a testing error of some sort is the most reasonable explanation unless you are dosing something to raise KH.
