Natural filtration or Aquaclear?

Hi guys. So my tank has been running for about a month now, and it's doing pretty well. It is currently a home to two clowns and five snails. Up until now, I have just been using my live rock and live sand for my filter. However, my nitrates went up to 20 ppm yesterday. I know 20 isn't too bad, but I like keeping the levels as low as possible. I did a water change, and they are now back at 10. My question is whether or not adding a hang on the back filter would help keep my nitrates down.

Yep, a HOB filter would help remove poop and food from the water column and prevent it from rotting/turning to nitrate.

I'll probably get one within this week or next. What media would you recommend for the filter?

I just added chemipure elite and purigen to my Aqua clear that's what seems to be the consensus from the posts I've read. I also have the a filter pad and the bio media in there as well.
