Lime LEDs

So I live in the UK.

Anyone know how I can get hold of some Lime LEDs? Google has let me down and I can't find anyone in the UK who sells them, can't find them direct from china on aliexpress either........... I'm not about to get shafted for shipping and import tax's and the like ordering direct from the states.

Bright ideas anyone?

Yeah that's the issue, think they do, but it means paying a ludicrous amount of shipping for 6 or so LEDs and then I'll almost certainly be slapped with import tax when they arrive in the UK (bloody government lol).

So I was hoping someone might have some bright ideas as to alternative suppliers in Europe or china (I've ordered masses from china direct and have never been charged custom fees? Yet everyone I know who's ordered from the states gets hit).

My only other thought is I'm hoping to order some arduino boards from Canada, might see if the seller can get me some from rapid and then the postage won't feel so bad and if I do get hit for import tax, it's only on one package and less likely to make me feel the need to cry about the amount of tax they stick on it lol.

They have ebay listings that say they do single mounted Rebels in whatever color you want, as well as 3-ups and more. Ships from Glasgow

Just a quick question, what channel would it be best to put limes on? My setup has every channel individually controllable, but I don't have the ability to add an additional channel, so out of white, royal blue, violet or OCW which channel would be best to piggy back the limes on too?

I'm ruling violet straight out, as I only run it at 16%.

Found the listing on Ebay (have just about recovered from the price, might be cheaper to import them and pay tax lol) thinking 1 3up on each of my 3 arrays, or would I get away with just 2 limes on each array? Thinking I'd stick the 3up next to the moonlight (dead centre.... ish) on the arrays, or would I be better having them more spread out?

Do you have all the OCW colors broken out to individual channels? If so, just replace the greens with the limes. They overlap in terms of wavelength, but the lime does a better job than the greens could ever hope to do. If not, put them with the white channel. You may have to adjust the number of lime LEDs to get the desired effect though.

Thanks again evil, no my OCW is not indvidually controllable (thought that was the hole point). Might look at getting new OCW clusters made with lime instead of green as that would be a quick clean fix on my arrays.

If a buddy of yours were to buy in the US and slip them into a letter to the UK the government wouldn't be involved, right? They can't poke there nose into every gift can they?

No that's right. If it's marked as a gift then you don't get taxed. But it's illegal for a business to mark goods as gifts, some chinese sellers do it still, and even the ones that don't and mark the packages as componets etc don't get stopped and taxed very often (I've never had a package stopped and charged), but everything from the states that isn't a gift is taxed and sometimes if they think your trying to be clever and post yourself something to duck taxes at the airport on return from holiday etc they'll hold the item until you can prove it's a gift. HM customs are a nightmare.

Shouldn't they have to prove that it is not a gift? Innocent until proven guilty over here...

Either thinking works hahaha. They still hold it untill they think they know and as this would be a business transaction I would get charged lol.
