tunze 9001 w/ media basket and prime?

Hi. Bought the tunze 9001 for my coral life biocube 29, but with media basket and the AI Prime light it is not going to fit. Any ideas? If I move Prime light over then cannot get media basket out. Would I have to hang the skimmer in the tank? Newbie here. Obviously LoL but thanks have learned a lot from this site.

Never mind. Moved the Prime to the side of the tank, it looks fine. But now I cannot figure out how the 9001 is exactly supposed to fit in chamber 2 with the media basket. there is some kind of lip near top of the side and the skimmer won't go below that. Is the cup supposed to stick out over top of tank? Do I pour the RO water up to the top of chamber 2? Also was reading how people have trouble removing cup with one hand and mine is really loose no problem with one hand. Thanks.

The media basket isn't removed much so a light bracket in the way is a personal choice or not if you want to move it when changing media.

Please see the pictorial walk through here on installing the basket and skimmer:

The cup will stick up out of the chamber a little bit, but the hood will still close. Set it at the proper water level. Always top off in chamber two or three.

The lid on the cup is tight and that is what they whine about. The cup itself lifts off easily.

Thanks for the reply. And the link, that was helpful. You can see in your photos that little extended line/lip between chamber 2 and 3. That is what is blocking my 9001 from going down more. Or am I supposed to take out Media Basket first? Unless it is supposed to be this way and I did it right? Will post a pic. Can't see how to post a pic. Anyway the whole cup is above the tank, don't think that is right.

And yeah I thought about just unhooking the light but man that AI Prime bracket is a pain to unscrew! It looks fine on the side so all good.

Duh yeah it was the cup that was easy. LoL.

Most set it here under the molding piece

You can adjust the water level in chamber two to suit the height of the skimmer. Install skimmer first, then media basket. Then adjust the water level in chamber two/three while the filtration pump is ON.

You could also remove that molding piece on the magnet side and make life even easier.

I feel really stupid right now. can't really figure out that photo or what molding that is. I put the skimmer in chamber 2 with the magnets in chambers 2 and 3. Stays put but like I said I cannot move it down in chamber 2. Most likely one of my problems is I can't really get to the back of the tank, it is in a corner angled out. I just reach over from the sides. But still can't get the skimmer low enough cuz of that line/lip thing. I will take the media basket out and start over. Problem is now I poured so much water back there the water level is really high. Aargh. Thanks so much for taking the time to help my dumb ass.

edit: oh wait is that magnet in the photo in chambers 2 and 3? And thats a reflection of chamber 3 and pump?

never mind. I just compared all the pix you shared and i think I get it now. Gonna need to get water out of the back then take out media basket and reinstall it all. Thanks so much.

I'm pretty certain he wasn't trying to come across as insulting or anything like that, and instead wanted to prevent others from having to experience this kind of frustrating agony:

I'd say trying to provide advice to another about experiences a reefer has had and doesn't want someone else to endure (especially since the rear sumps in AIO tanks are remarkably tiny) is the exact opposite of trying to be insulting.

those water directors do not fit the coral life very well.

They fit them as perfect as can be without being molded into the tank.

Remove the piece of molding or put the magnet underneath it it's only like 1/8 in thick.

You're making this way harder than it is

Exact knives fall out of thier holders and are made for paper. Which is why we recommend a utility knife. Score and snap with a pliers. Or a Dremel.

He is just simplay stating his experience using an incorrect tool.

Well I apologize profusely if that is what he meant. I did not get the reference to ''exacto knife" vs "utility knife" which changes his tone completely.

the water directors are great I just have a hard time fitting it in and both of them cracked, but I glued them back together.

I was indeed making it harder than it is, but I am new to this and wanted to do it right. But way up above, once told to take the basket out, I stated I was good. The photos were just hard to understand at first. Then his comment and the others seemed offensive to me. I have thick skin but they seemed unnecessary and not helpful, but I get it now and apologize.

Thank you very much for helping.
