CrazyEyes
A local member asked me to build him a sump, he then said he wanted to get a glass - holes overflow, I said why not just let me build you a mini ghost style overflow, this is how it came out. Link to comment
Sancho
Nice work! What did you use to cut the teeth out with? Link to comment
CrazyEyes
Thanks man! The pieces were all laser cut, makes such a perfect cut. Link to comment
Sancho
Nice.... You have your own laser cutter? Or do you work somewhere that you have access to one. If you have you own which make and model are you using? I have been tossing about the Idea of a laser cutter or cnc router. Just wondering what has worked for other people. Link to comment
JR!
nice how many gph will it handle? Link to comment
CrazyEyes
2 3/4" bulkheads so probably 700-800gph. Link to comment
CrazyEyes
Got the boxes drilled and everything fits nicely. . . Link to comment
jedimasterben
Don't forget another gasket on the wet side behind the inner box Link to comment
CrazyEyes
It's getting setup just like reef synergy does theirs. Link to comment
jedimasterben
Just making sure, forgetting the gaskets is not a great thing. Ask me how I know Link to comment
JR!
you willing to sell them? i might be interested Link to comment
CrazyEyes
Send me a PM JR, we'll figure something out. Just making sure, forgetting the gaskets is not a great thing. Ask me how I know . Hopefully because you know someone who knows someone, no chance Ben forgot the gaskets. Link to comment
jedimasterben
Hopefully because you know someone who knows someone, no chance Ben forgot the gaskets. Psh, of course I didn't! Link to comment
ajmckay
Looks great! Reminds me that at some point I need to re-do my overflow to black 1/4"... Currently mine is just cheap 1/8" clear acrylic that's been spray painted black. I also like the "ghost" style. It keeps the box inside the tank really small. Link to comment
jedimasterben
I have a very similar setup in my 40, but the boxes are only 10" wide, and the inner box makes some noise of water falling and sloshing if I push more than ~300gph through it. I don't know if it would be better if the box were larger, but I have two returns drilled on that same end of the tank, so I won't really know Link to comment
CrazyEyes
99% done, it was very tricky figuring out where to drill the bulkheads on the bottom of the external box since the whole thing is only 8" long.. . Link to comment
JR!
gonna have 2 or 3 drains out of the external box? Link to comment
CrazyEyes
This one is only going to have 2, 3 would have been a nightmare to fit into these dimensions. Link to comment
JR!
2 would be perfect for me. i like to use the herbie drain. possible to make it any smaller? lol Link to comment
CrazyEyes
I think anything under 8" would be pushing it. Might be able to get away with 6" if you decided to use 3/4" bulkheads like this. Link to comment
BattleAthletics
Oops looks like mine that Chris at pico made Link to comment
CrazyEyes
Oops looks like mine that Chris at pico made. Is that good or bad? Link to comment
Hig789
Oops looks like mine that Chris at pico made Well considering that synergy/reef savvy came up with the design I believe and there are many copies of it I don't believe there is a oops at all. If there is here then pico did a oops too. Link to comment
BattleAthletics
Calm down cowboy, idk how that p and s made it in there. I meant OoOo or something of that sort. Considering I only get on nano reef on my phone I'd assume it decided to change it for me. I like the box very nice. Link to comment
Galli
I wonder how much it would cost to get one of these made for a 20L... Link to comment
