KevinM
Anyone want to share their experience with their encrusting montiporas spreading on their sandbeds? I have a small nano and I'd like to keep the montipora off the rocks. Will it spread well or would I be better off spreading some rubble around the plug? Will be rainbow and green encrusting montis. HarryPotter
I dont think they'll spreads properly on sand. Not sure though. I put an (ugly) encrusting montipora on the sand and it hasn't grown at all. Link to comment
smiz
Mine doesn't spread on the sand but it more plates over it. Kinda cool because you can just pick it up if need be. Link to comment

vlangel
I bought a green monti from a hobbyist that had it on the sandbed. It looked pretty cool. It plated and then curved upward on the ends. Link to comment
