Going to Start Fragging

Hello,

I'm new to fragging so bear with me. I have a few questions, if anyone can help me out.

1. Where do you guys buy your frag plugs and which are the best? Looking to buy online like Amazon or ebay. I see that oceans wonders is very popular, but also see a few more competitors.

2. Should I get different sized plugs? Or just the small ones or the big ones?

3. Should birds nest frags be glued on small or large plugs? Same question for acans? And with or without base sticks?

4. Any tips?

Thank you

Acros on small plugs, eBay or Amazon is best. For acans small tiles if small frags.

I like ecotech glue

the best chance of fragging successfully is if it is not exposed to air, I've read.

I personally HATE the pedestal frag plugs with the bottom stick thing. I understand it's nice for racks, but I hate trying to break them off when mounting plugs to rock

while I don't do a ton of fragging I don't think there's really much to be overly concerned with... Just watch some youtube videos (reputable ones of course) and take the proper safety precautions as you would with any working situation where there could be debris.

I've used frag plugs and the regular ceramic ones work fine but at some point I realized that they look ugly as crap in most peoples tanks including mine so I started gluing frags to pieces of dry rubble... It's just as easy and overall looks more natural quicker... Of course if your intention is to set up some frag racks then certainly using frag plugs is probably the easiest way to go about things.

I do try to find somewhat flat, appropriately sized pieces of rock - usually about the size of a quarter, sometimes use a small hammer or screwdriver to modify the shape a bit if need be.

I usually use underwater epoxy, superglue gel, or fishing line for slimy soft corals

I agree. I feel the same way about them.

I use rocks also right now, but with a frag rack in my tank now. I might to go with the ceramic frags as its easier for me. Personally, I hate gluing frags to my rock work as they look ugly, but what you going to do.
