Will you loose some... yup... but cycling with established LR will give you a stable system in a shorter amount of time. Would highly recommend doing exactly what you are talking about doing. Just make sure you look for pests and take care of them (kill them) while your tank is cycling...

Pests are the only reason I start with dry base rock. I find it easier to control my tanks environment when I start with dry rock... but it does take a bit longer to become super stable and it takes a long time for me to really seed the tank with coraline algae. The other side benefit to dry rock is that it allows me to create whatever scales I want. I can cut it into a bunch of pieces, drill it, and let it sit on my table for days while I create the perfect scape. Most recently I painted it up with environmentally safe concrete dye -and cured it for a couple of weeks in a bucket of water in my yard. Worked great and looked great from the beginning. The dying also allowed me to make all of the joints and seams blend together between rocks and created a very finished look.

But in short. Yes you can put established LR in a new tank... Highly recommend it!
