odd clam behavior

tetraodon

Recommended Posts

im no stranger to clams, but two of my clams have me baffled. first my derasa has been holding his intake siphon closed for months, and seams to have faded in areas, it might be getting too much light but im not able to conform this. my oldest clam, a maxima has for the past week and a half has been totaly retreated in its shell, i cant find any external problem, i gave it a freshwater dip, and havnt seen improvement or decline. so what do you all think,

Check the foot for pest snails? Doesn't sound good if both are misbehaving at a once.

ive checked and didnt find anything other than bristle worms under them, im wondering if they are causing some of this,

I would need to google. Like under the rock or physically on the foot?

pretty much under the foot and shell, its odd for sure. i wonder if the derasa is getting too much light, and something has slipped and pissed off my maxima,

I would remove the worms to play it safe and run heavy carbon for a week or so to help filter out anything that might be in the water that could be causing the clams to do that.
