Rehype
I am changing salts in my 5 gal nano from instant ocean to reef crystals slowly can you do a water change with the new sat twice a week or is that to much? I am changing 8 cups at a time Once a week one cup at a time....Big changes such as switching salt brands need to be done over a longer period of time. *Remember only bad things happen fast in this hobby. Amy
Yikes I have done 2 jugs one week apart 8 cups each time of the new salt not a good thing I guess. So when I do a change you say 1 cup only each week? Link to comment
mystersyster
Amy I wouldn't worry. I've switched between the two. Reef crystals just has elevated levels. You should be just fine doing what you are doing. Link to comment
seabass
While I like Rehype's method of gradual change, it's practically the same salt mix. I don't anticipate problems if you start using it during typical water changes. Link to comment
Amy
Oh good I have not seen the corals frown so far so that is good. Would any of you know the difference in calcium and magnesium between the two salts? Link to comment

This isn't official and is a few years old; plus, recipes tend to change over time: Salt - Calcium / Alkalinity / Magnesium Reef Crystals - 490 / 13 / 1440 Instant Ocean - 400 / 11 / 1350 source: http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1714505 Link to comment
