FlamingPrawn
Good to see he's still kicking. Also - have you started reserving stuff for CORA? I thought about going to C-SEA too in October... Link to comment
drgibby
Water change day. Update time. I changed the water and scrubbed out the Mame skimmer because i was starting to notice some algae again. i also slid over some of the rocks to make a little more room for the clam because he keeps turning and isn't attached to his plate anymore. Im considering moving some of the rocks around again but wonder if i should just leave it be. Knowing me i will change it because i feel it can be done better and now what i know the direction i want this tank to go i feel i can do it better. So many things i wish i knew when i first started. All the research i did cannot compare to just experience and learning the hard way. Link to comment
FlamingPrawn
Maximas are are a boring clam right? Maybe that's crocea? Too lazy to read through. How do you like the mame skimmer? i was considering one for the Evo. is it quiet? http://animal-world.com/Aquarium-Coral-Reefs/Maxima-Clams Link to comment

How do you like the mame skimmer? i was considering one for the Evo. is it quiet? http://animal-world.com/Aquarium-Coral-Reefs/Maxima-Clams Hes a maxima as far as i know. I like my mame it works well and has a small area of need in the back. You do need to clean it about every month probably more and its kinda difficult to do. The skimmer is only as loud as your air pump. I dont like excess noise i have a whisper 10 and its not to bad.. well 2 whisper 10s i tried to run both off of one and that got waaaay to confusing Link to comment
drgibby
Its a never ending learning process with this tank i feel. I accidently moved a rock to and ended up moving a bunch of rocks around to help with future placement and to make more room for the clam. Everything turned out pretty well and im happy. Also picked up some new corals from the CR supersale here they are still mad from the dip but i think they look great. FTS- I traded away the frogspawn to make room for some other stuff (He will be leaving friday)20160914_081358_001 by drgibby, on Flickr Garf Bonsi 20160914_100930 by drgibby, on Flickr Tri color to replace the one that RTN20160914_100918 by drgibby, on Flickr Commoners envy 20160914_100913 by drgibby, on Flickr Oregon Tort20160914_100909 by drgibby, on Flickr The Oregon tort and Commoners envy right now just are making me so happy Love the colors How bold they are Link to comment

drgibby
So the order came!!! Cat approves and is just as excited as i am!! 20160928_084416 by drgibby, on Flickr As i was dipping them and acclimating i took a picture of the clam. 20160928_075351 by drgibby, on Flickr Ok so I ordered 2 things i got a JF red hot setosa and a WWC yellow tips. I am really happy with both pieces and the colors from my phone do not really show HOW RED this setosa is. I love it. A piece of the yellow tip broke off so i mounted it and will hope it will grow. You can see it behind the setosa They are still a little upset but here you go. 20160928_091831 by drgibby, on Flickr 20160928_091840 by drgibby, on Flickr The wwc was a big piece so its just sitting on the rocks to rest for now. drgibby
So the wwc yellow tips is doing well but the setosa has formed some white patches or the color is starting to fade. I'll post pictures Monday hen I have access to a computer. I hope it is ok cuz I really like this frag. Are setosa more sensitive then other sps? Link to comment
drgibby
Here are the pics i promised. The setosa seems to be fading in color. I checked parameters and the alk was a bit low around 7.5 so i dosed a bit to bring it back up. 20161002_165145 by drgibby, on Flickr 20161002_170400 by drgibby, on Flickr Looks the same this morning. ill monitor it and hope for the best... metrokat
It can get pissed off but the color should return when it gets used to your tank. Put it in lower light though, till then. Link to comment

Yup moved it close to the bottom last night I feel like thats the thing to do if a new piece starts to lose color check parameters and put it low in the tank. then you play the waiting game. drgibby
The setosa still has a slight white spot but it seems to be improving. FTS for the month and a special side angle. 20161013_093958 by drgibby, on Flickr 20161013_094013 by drgibby, on Flickr Link to comment

dpoltsdsu
I think the Setosa will be fine. I have move tanks a couple of times and the Setosa always fades a bit only to return to its former glory in about a month. They are pretty hardy compared to other SPS Link to comment
drgibby
I think i make things harder then they need to be. I got around yesterday to hooking up my RODI unit that i have had since august. I finally got the attachment i needed to hook it up to the facet. Should my hand held TDS meter read 0 or do i have to do the mathematical equation that the book says that will give me a percentage number to base tds on? Im a little nervous to make the switch since the water has been distilled for so long. im hoping it doesn't change to much. Link to comment
drgibby
Big day today. Water change as usual decided to do more then the normal 1 gallon closer to 2 today. Also i made 3 gallons of my own water with the RODI unit TDS came back to 0 so im excited and nervous to use it. Hope it doesn't upset the tanks. Also pictures today will show the encrusting growth going on. Im really happy with the way things are going! green slimer 20161102_090105 by drgibby, on Flickr Oregon tort happy PE 20161102_085929 by drgibby, on Flickr 20161102_085923 by drgibby, on Flickr 20161102_090125 by drgibby, on Flickr Link to comment
