Hypes Final Nano Bommie

Rehype

Recommended Posts

So after breaking down the ZE I ended up trading it to another reefer for an Elos mini.(he threw in a bunch of extras and some cash) So it was well worth it especially considering I really wanted to downsize. I have practically no time for a tank nowadays so even this one is huge a stretch for me but what can I say I bleed saltwater and just cant let it go completely. With that said this tank will be my last...My goal is to let it reach true maturity. My inspiration for this build is nano sapiens 12 gallon. His reef has been running nearly a decade ..its truly a testament to his skill and dedication as a reefer (much respect -_- ) Im going for another mixed reef but since space is limited so will the coral selection. In terms of livestock im going to try to acquire some of my all time favorites. Decided to go back to halides because aesthetically they're still my favorite. Decided to try out the latest in halide technology with the reefbrite dimmable ballast and Twin Arc bulb. Its a really cool fixture especially since I can have my cake and eat it too with 10k/20k in the same bulb.

Glad you are still in the game. Nice choice for a downsized tank. Looks good. You mentioned your putting in some favorite livestock. Any preview of what they could be? :)

I can't wait to see how this turns out, and I'm super excited to be able to follow along from the beginning! When everyone else is doing LEDs it should be very interesting to see how the latest in MH works out for you.

Your welcome sir

Thanks alot me too. It took alot longer than i expected just to get this tank setup but im glad its finally up.At this point im just tying loose ends (cabling, flow patterns, light schedule etc)

Gotta admit Ive had pretty much all types of reef lighting and I always come back to halides because the look they create is pretty special.

Thanks so much teeny I appreciate you following along. I think LED's are great I just prefer them as supplements to either halides or T5's.

If I look at this to long I might have to get one also!! Ill tell the wife it's your fault!

Hey man do it we can call it the mini club..lol

You're back! I'm so happy to see you.

Glad you're back!

I know where you're coming from regarding time but not wanting to leave altogether; I have just finished the tank swap on my second downsize. Mines just low maintenance coral and a low bioload.

Hey kat I copied you and bought my live rock from gulf live rock. The premium decorative type. I really wanted rock with life and diversified bacteria.

Took some PAR readings from the halides (fixture is 10" off the water) and the readings were taken on the sandbed

Nice! any interesting HH?

There was a bunch of mussels that didnt make it through the cycle :( But the cool thing about that type of rock is that you may see new life months or years later!

Holy Light, Batman!! Always wanted to try MH, but never had a tank that could handle the heat.....enclosed hoods & all. Now I'm kinda stuck on LED, lol. Definately following, can't wait to see this!!

Geez hype. You've been through 2 tanks in the span of time it's taken me to gather 1/2 the equipment for the tank I was bugging you about.

Try to make this one suck just a little bit. Maybe some algae on a pane of glass?
