bigh
Current FTS: Hi everyone, Been a few years between tanks, thought I'd start up a thread as I reckon this is gonna look pretty good in a few month's time. Tank has been up for 3 months, cycle took 3 weeks and have gradually added stock since. About the nem/mandarin: I realise police representing both animals should be showing up in this thread fairly shortly, so I thought I should explain at the top of the thread. 1) The mandarin is eating pellets/frozen food fine and my tank is COATED in pods, in all my years keeping marine I've never seen so many show up so quickly. 2) Here was the real pickle; little Stampy, the occellaris was slowly killing the hammer, I've never seen a clown this KEEN to host in my whole life. It was a toss up between taking the hammer or the clown out, or finding him a more viable host. In my frustration I ended up resolving to finding the smallest, tank raised BTA I could find and keeping a close eye on it. I've kept 3 BTAs prior to this one, am quite experienced and plan on taking it out and back straight away if it starts showing any signs of deterioration. So far however, it's been great, fully expanded, hasn't moved and is taking targeted mysis. I mention Stampy being keen to host because as soon as I dropped the BTA in he was diving ALL over it, I had to keep scaring him off so that the nem could get a foothold, he tolerates Stampy well now and they're good friends. bigh
Picked up some GSP (up the back) yesterday, keen to get it growing on the back wall; also picked up a shitty ZETlight 36 x .5W LED fixture, this is more to provide better white coverage to the tank, and lets me have an strip of blues on independently for show. I've got the PAR38 pointed more towards the BTA now as a result, it's a shallow tank (12" from fixture to gravel) so I'm hopeful the ZET gives off some PAR but as I said that's not its intended purpose (it looks good though).
