rturiak
When I fill my buckets for a water change or for top off water, I place my buckets in the kitchen sink and if they overflow, then no big deal it just goes down the drain Link to comment
lkoechle
My buckets won't fit in the sink unfortunately. Link to comment

GTi
I used to set a timer to remind me to check. Now I have a 20 gallon trash can with float valve shut off. If you're limited to 5 gallon buckets, how about putting it in a large tote so if it over flows it is contained. You could also use a water alarm so if you're in the house you'd know. Link to comment

CrazyEyes
This is so familiar, I've done this more than I care to mention. I remember one time in particular I was making water and just put the bucket on the kitchen floor, went to go lay down for a minute, next thing I know I woke up from a 4 hour nap (don't judge me) and at 150gpd or 6.25 gallons an hour, the gf was quite pissed. CrazyEyes
My friend has his water change station in his big empty garage with concrete floors, and he realized he left it on and freaked out and started to rush home, so I was said " it's outside on the concrete, Ive done that about 6 times in my kitchen, he finally realized I was right and just forgot about it until he got home. metrokat
Yeah my apartment building maintenance department rang the doorbell. Guys down stairs, up to 2 floors below had water in their apartment and they wanted to see where it came from. I closed the door to the fish bathroom and pretended it was a closet. Link to comment
CrazyEyes
Even though I live on the second floor, our floors are solid concrete so luckily I've never had to deal with that. It is funny seeing the look on the maintenance guys faces when they come in see a 75g tank (considered huge to some people), then go in the kitchen to fix the garbage disposal and see this anchored into the drywall a foot away from a light. CrazyEyes
Oh your first cartridge is very clean, guess i should rinse out mine. Trust me, it didn't stay clear for long with this dirty Tampa bay area water, plus that was right when I got it setup so they were literally brand new. Link to comment
NinjaReefer
You rich people and your in home RO units. I have to carry my 5 gallon jugs to the local fish store, 20 miles in the snow. Up hill both ways! Link to comment
RK_tek
I've flooded every house/apt I've lived in which is 6-7. Worst was a 2 story apt with the bathroom above the dining room. The water would run down the light fixture then drip on the floor. In 2 apts I never knew where all the water went. Under the cabinet and then through the floor I suppose. They were both terrible with bad landlords. I didn't care Link to comment
FlowerMama
Oh yeah, been there about 4 times a yr. The one before last was really bad, water seeped to the floor below and dripping from the basement ceiling to the carpet. Here's one of those lovely moments. That's why you never get rid of spare towels. NEVER! Unless you're smart to upt a valve. This has only happened why my friend brings over jugs when I fill them for her. Mine just goes straight into the Brute. Link to comment
StevieT
Get a water timer. Outdoor section, by the sprinklers, irrigation. Cheap Hook it on the intake no more issues, work arounds or expensive solutions. Push the manual button, set in my case 60-70 mins. 5 Gallons filled. Link to comment
