VReeftank
Hi, everyone I'd like to setup a 24,18,18 inch reef tank. I would like to keep sps, clams and some Lps. I would love to go with kessil for lighting but am not sure if I should go for 1 a360we or 2 a160we's. Any help would be appreciated. Link to comment
dragonxflare
The 360WE should be enough for your tank... with maybe a tad of shadowing (shouldn't be much). I have a 36" long tank, and use 2x 360we on it for full coverage. Honestly, you can't go wrong with either. Link to comment

That would be my personal suggestion. I have one a160we and feel that is good enough for my 18 inch long cube, but I would be skeptical for 24 inches with only one. Link to comment
spectra
Well I have a 160 on a 24 and to be honest want a 360.....I am one who likes more of a white light around 12K and the 160 just does not cut it. 2 might work a lot better but if you can get away with one I would say go for it. drexel
I would do two 160's myself. A single 360we would give you more intensity, but it's not going to take care of the shadowing. Two lights pointed towards each other (only a couple degrees) and slightly forward, pointing toward the back wall will do a much better job of eliminating shadows than one light. I have a single 160 over a 23x12x14 tank @ 85% intensity, mostly sps and I have no problems growing sps, but I just fragged a S. Guttatus due to shadowing, mainly because of it's size. It went from a 1" frag to a 5" colony in six months, so it was really dense, so it started to die off at the base. You can keep the LPS towards the middle and bottom of the tank and keep the SPS towards the top (depending on species?). Just a thought. Good luck! Link to comment
