Anybody have a quad over a 40 breeder?

Anyone have any pics of a quad over a 40 breeder or other 36" tank? Just curious on how low I could mount it and still get good spread to cover the whole tank. I am considering the goosenecks as a mount but I'm not sure about the weight on the glass after I drill the back for the over flow. More than likely it will be right in between the gooseneck arms and I don't want to put unneeded extra stress on the glass.

Thanks

Matt

Following! I've contacted Dave about lighting my 20 long with something to use on a 40 breeder. He recommended a quad. But haven't made either jump yey

I have a Quad over an IM Nuvo 24. The display area of the tank is 36"L x 9.5"W x 13"H. Coverage is great! I have the light mounted from some conduit pipe I bent and mounted onto the back of the stand. The light is roughly 8.5" from the water surface.

In the next few weeks I'll be upgrading the tank to a custom sized 39"L x 15"W x 15"H. I expect the edges will be a bit dim, but I do have some NPS cup corals that are going to go on the edges. :)

Thanks for the replies everyone. Those are some sweet tanks I can't wait to upgrade to mine.

I guess I am going to have to build a hood for the tank. Having to mount those lights that high I am worried about my 2 year old and our 6 month old standing/laying/crawling up to the tank and staring up into the light. Don't want to cause future damage to their young eyes. I'd still like to use the goose neck if possible so I can just make a light weight hood for ease of removal

Are those vanitys? I have been thinking about using one as a stand for my 40 but I was concerned about the moisture coming from the sump.

They look like side boards or buffet/servers. That's what I'm using as a stand for my new tank. Either way, just Kilz the inside to stop the moisture & put in a 120mm vent fan or 2

Yeah that's what I was thinking. I like the idea of using a nice kitchen cabinet base or a vanity for a stand and a slab of granite for the top. Already have a gallon of kilz also.

Marc is right! They are kitchen carts/islands from Bed, Bath and Beyond. I went with them specifically because of the black granite tops (which are great!), and I didn't want generic "aquarium stand." While I can DIY some stuff, I didn't feel up to DIY a stand. I went with BB&B since they had the cheapest price on the carts/stands. I initially saw them at Home Depot while I was checking out bathroom vanities and stuff. BB&B has free shipping from their website for orders >$49. Plus, there are always BB&B coupons to be found! These are AIO tanks, so I don't have to worry about moisture inside the cabinets since there is no sump.

Both of mine are in cherry, but there are a few other finishes available as well. I took the wheels/feet off of them. I also took the towel bar off the ends that are close to each other so I can have the two stands snugged up to each other. Having the towel bars is a nice touch, since I hang my lint free buffing cloth from one.

Nice. Yeah I've built a few stands in the past but I didn't have a 2 year old and a 6 month old then. Haha. So I really don't have the time to DIY one. I'll still have to build a hood to cover the quad but those are make some nice stands.
