CrazyEyes
So I was tooling around in my friends garage, saw he had some rock, and needing rock a new tank figured I'd see what I could come up with. I'm kind of digging, not sure if I love it. It does look pretty natural though. Opinions or critique welcomed. . Link to comment
ndrobey
In the bottom picture, the left leg is small at the bottom. That could put too much pressure on one spot in the bottom of the tank. I would put something under that leg to spread the pressure out. Link to comment
kams56
Yeah, other than that left leg/column being a little thin at the bottom I think it looks pretty nice as well. But looking more closely it looks to be one sold peice on that side. So it might actually be okay. But personally I would worry a little about that side being moved or sliding/falling down. Mirya
I like it! In addition to the other comments, I'd epoxy the whole thing together as well. Link to comment
Matteo
This is awesome for a cube! Link to comment
Sancho
I love it. Are you planning on using epoxy to hold it together? Link to comment
CrazyEyes
Yeah it'll definitely get epoxied together Link to comment
Sancho
Yeah it'll definitely get epoxied together I used some 1/2 inch cast acrylic rods as dowels. Drilled 1/2 inch holes in the rock cut the dowel to fit than epoxied it together. It was a bit of work but its not coming apart. You setting up the Solana again? or is this a new tank? CrazyEyes
I've had amazing success with just jb water weld, my last structure was 4 or 5 pieces of Marco epoxied with jb water weld. The solana has a new how, new tank is a full Starfire 20x20x12, and the tallest part of this structure is 14-15" so it'll stick out of the water a bit, just like I wanted. Here is the tank Link to comment
Sancho
Looks sweet. I love shallow tanks. You drillin the back or bottom? thought you were gonna skin the stand in orange? Link to comment
CrazyEyes
That back is going to get drilled with a coast to coast. I was going to skin it orange but I wanted something a little more not off the wall, and black goes good with any other furniture. Link to comment
