AForys
This is a rescued coral, well actually I thought it was a dead skeleton, but sure enough it's not!! Link to comment
kimberbee
Was it sold to you as a sun coral? Looks to me like a half open duncan cause of the greenish purple color. Link to comment
AForys
These heads go all the way in its hard skeleton when disturbed, I don't think Duncan's do that? When I bought this tank, it came with LR and a tomato clown. The heads were basically hollowed out when I first got it, there were other similar pieces as well. They looked cool so I stood them upright and sure enough this one started growing. Link to comment
geonator
looks a lot like a Duncan to me also .... do you have any other pics? Link to comment
AForys
Possibly a short tent Duncan? All these heads came out the hollowed skele Link to comment
aquarium
I dont know. but it does look alot like the duncan I had when it was mad. mine did on occasion retract all the way. Link to comment
AForys
All these heads came out the hollowed skeleton in about a months time, it didn't do much in the month before. Hrrmmmmmm! Now that i google Duncan and see them closed up, this may very well be a Duncan!!! Link to comment
kimberbee
Yup, like 95% sure it's a duncan. Google image search "closed duncan coral" and compare that to yours. I would look similar to a closed up sun coral. Give each head some food every few days. They will grow, open up more, and be lovely. You've got a lot of heads there, it'll look really nice!! AForys
Nice! I've been putting in reef roid's, and I feed the tank rod's reef food. Think that's enough or should I feed them head by head? What food would you recommend? And thx again for the free WaveMaker! ; ) Link to comment

Spot feeding will just make them GROW even more! If you have shrimp and/or hermits, they may try to take food out of the corals mouth when you spot feed, so just be aware of that! But what you can do is get a pipette or turkey baster and squirt a little food right at each head. The tentacles on the edges will catch the food and NOM! The Rod's food would be just fine for this. Even feeding 2-3 heads each time you feed, rotating to make sure every head gets some food eventually would work. No need to feed every head every day! It'll just be a yummy boost to help the coral flourish! Link to comment

They don't have to be target fed, but it a) makes them grow faster and b ) probably isn't a bad idea while yours are in "recovery mode" Link to comment
