Fluval Spec 5 pump question!

Hi!! I been looking around for options about upgrading the stock pump that comes in the spec 5. I see everyone is using a mini606 but since that has been discontinued I can't find any.

Is there an alternative that fits I think Hydor Pico Evo-Mag 180 is the only option?

Would it be recommended to leave the stock pump in and just have another way stronger powerhead on the other side of the tank?

Thanks!

I have a Hydor Pico Mag on mine. I had to shave the intake portion down slightly with a file. Took the back cover off as well. Now it fits like a glove in the chamber. I can try and post pics of it when i get home. That being said i also have a Jebao RW-4 on wave maker mode. the combo is perfect imo.

RW-4 in a SpecV?

Yup, have it on a low setting with the 12 volt power supply. To note, my tank is bare bottom, but even with sand i don't think it would stir it up. With he stock 24volt power supply it was too much flow.

I have an Aqueon AQ600 in mine, had to remove front and back covers, and dremel down a little plastic nub... but other than that it works great. drops right in.
