Suggestions for Cover on JBJ 45

The JBJ 45 comes with two glass sheets about 1/8 thick. I have a gap of about an inch in the back where I have some return pipes coming back in from an external pump.

Anyone have suggestion on what I can use to cover that 1" gap. It needs to be plastic so I can cut out holes for return pipes and such. Thinking about some guttering covers from HD that I might could cut down.

Just push the back panel to where desired and then push the front back leaving an tiny gap at the front and a tiny gap in the middle. That's what I do for mine.

No its not that easy.... I have two pipes going into the tank not the sump area so I have that 1" gap. I know the LFS use to sell a little plastic panel that would slid onto the glass. Guess I could hunt around for one of those.

Buy yourself a brs screen top kit or Home Depot sells a screen kit as well for a bit cheaper you would just need to get the 1/4" clear netting as I don't think Home Depot would have clear netting. You'll get better O2 levels and gas exchange with the open screen top while having a more secure top for keeping in your fish. I use to have the jbj 8 gal and could not stand the glass lid it was constantly dripping water and getting waterspots all over it.post-80906-0-11264500-1441995318_thumb.jpg

plus 1 for the screen top. nothing grows on it, nothing stays on it which requires cleaning, and the light is hardly affected. I used a window screen mesh but I found the mesh was diffusing my light too much. so I removed it and used half inch chicken wire.

If you're interested in purchasing a top you can check out my thread in sig. If you're going the DIY route the BRS net is flimsy and not straight, but does not deflect any light! Also I think petco/pet smart sell the small acrylic piece that slides on. If that doesn't work I could help fab a piece as well.
