So I'm officially rebuilding my tank! I had it up and running for about 9 months before it crashed while I was away. I definitely didn't plan enough last time I started this tank so I'm trying to be more methodical and organized this time around.

Tank:

Biocube 29 - I believe its the Oceanic version... I bought it used

Lights:

T5's no idea what color specturm the bulbs are, bought the lighting with the tank, I need to replace the bulbs soon anyway.

Mods:

Previous owner took off the hood and got rid of the false floors.

Chamber 1: Heater

Chamber 2: I purchased an inTank media basket and fuge basket that are supposed to arrive today, I'm planning on running Purigen and Chemi-pure elite in the media basket and cheato in the fuge. I'm really hoping it helps keep my parameters under control.

Chamber 3: Return pump

For cycling I'm planning on using Dr's Tim's one and only, a few of my friends have used it and they said it worked really well. I'm interested to see how its going to work...

I'm pretty sure I'm going to get new live rock and sand from my LFS, my rock is essentially dry rock at this point and I don't really want to go through the entire curing process again... As well I tried so many different aquascapes and couldn't find one I liked, which I know I'll never be completely happy with it but still I need to get some new pieces and shapes to work with...

Stock plans:

Fish:

2 Clowns - I'm thinking of going with snowflakes

1 Royal Gramma

1 Green Clown Goby

I had a YWG and pistol shrimp in my last tank and I loved watching them but I'm not sure if I want to add them to this tank again. I also really really want a green mandarin but I know how hard they are to keep so I don't think I'm going to get one until I get a bigger tank... I'd love to add a flame hawkfish but not sure if I could do both it and the clown goby.

Coral:

I want to do a huge zoa garden near the bottom of the tank, some softies, a few different hammers/ torchs and a couple of sps maybe a birdsnest and a monti....

Any opinions and suggestions? I'll be uploading photos later this week once I get everything ready to go!

I have been thinking about adding a goby/shrimp pair to my bio29 - only have a pair of 3.5 year old clowns. What did/didn't you like about your pair?

Will be following your thread, as I plan on re-starting my tank as well, same tank as yours. My filtration is pretty much identical to yours, other than I plan on tossing a bad of Matrix in the sump as well....have heard good things about it so I thought I'd try it out.

I may also opt for removing the hood and using a LED fixture above it, we'll see.

I don't think that I disliked anything about the pairing... The pistol shrimp moved a good amount of sand around but I knew that could happen going into it so it wasn't a big deal. For this tank I'm really trying to plan it out and do more of my dream tank/ stock and I want a clown goby/ possibly a hawkfish over the YWG... If the clown goby/ hawkfish doesn't workout then I'd definitely add a YWG and Pistol. Does that make sense? lol

Awesome! Yeah I've heard the same about matrix but I want to see how the inTank stuff is going to work and then go from there.... My water is really clear right now so thats nice but yeah we'll see how it goes down the line. And if I ever upgrade my lights I'm pretty sure I want to go with LED's

I'll post some pictures tonight!

Deffinitly post pictures! I am considering the Intank media basket and fuge for my biocube 29 but I want to try and find a used one. They are so darn expensive!

FTS I used a combo of Real Reef and fiji live rock I'm pretty happy with the aquascape (insane I know!! I'm sure I'll change it eventually lol) little unsure of the top two rocks but we'll see.... Planning on adding Dr Tims and fish this weekend! :)

PS I'll get a few pictures with my DSLR tonight

I've always wanted to see what that "real reef" rock looked like in a tank and under lights! Looks great!

Yeah! I got it from my LFS so I got to pick out exactly what pieces I wanted which was really nice! but yeah I like it so far, no real difference that I've been able to determine

Sounds good! Are you sticking with t5's? What fixture is it? 24 inches?

At this point I'm going to stick with them! I had some good growth on some of my easier corals (which I know isn't a huge deal but for my first saltwater tank I was really excited lol!!) If I upgrade them in the future I'll probably go with LED's... not sure though haven't researched them too much...

I believe its an aquatic life fixture and yup 24 inches

Corals and a CUC added yesterday!!

I ended up adding some snails and hermits and I plan on adding more types of snails just to get a good variety...

Coral wise I added a couple ricordia's, a two head green hammer, and a tiny frag of rastas! I'll upload some pictures later tonight! My LFS is getting a massive order of corals in this coming weekend and they just got a nice order of fish in so I'll most likely be going back this weekend and picking up more of everything for the tank!
