Tank upgrade - timing the move

Hi all

I'm in the middle of upgrading from a 10G tank to a new 24" cube. I'm currently waiting for my plumbing to be delivered and have already planned out my aquascape with dry rock.

Long story short, the shipment of my new tank was delayed and I had a 2 week period between when I got my new house to when I had to give up my old place. I was hoping to transfer all my livestock directly to a new tank during this time, but as a result of the delay, I figured it would be best to move all my liverock, fish and corals to summer camp at the aquarium store.

Once I get the new tank up and running, would I be OK with moving everything in at the same time given that the rock is in an established system at the moment? I should be able to keep the rock submerged in SW for the trip back home.

Or is it best to do it in stages?

Thanks!

Well going from a 10g to a 60g is a big jump. Personally I'd probably cycle the new dry rock before you move anything in. Yes in time your live rock would seed it so I cant give you a answer yes or no whether it would be okay. I'd just want to be sure that the rock could handle the new tank before I put my livestock in.

Like hig said it might be best to cycle the new rock first however if you did transfer all your live rock over I think you would be fine too. I moved everything straight over from my 29g to my 45g. Not as big as a jump as you are doing but just experience is all. As we all know slow is better. So keep that in mind:)

Thanks for the input, guys.

The tank is up and running. I should have specified that I was building the new aquascape with CaribSea Base Rock, so no cycle required. I cured it for a few days beforehand anyhow, while leak testing the plumbing.

I picked up my livestock and my live rock on Sept 5 and introduced everything to my tank. Fed lightly and kept a close eye on ammonia for the first week, and didn't see any at all.

All corals, fish and inverts seem happy with their new, spacious digs!
