xCry0x
Hey all, I bought a chinese LED fixture back towards the end of 2011. When I got it, there weren't as many options on the market (either chinese or fancy radeon etc) and there also weren't as many color LED's being utilized. The layout of my light is linear: It is a mix of 9x4500k neutral whites, 12x455nm Royal Blue and 3x470nm Blue. All bridgelux LEDs. Non-dimmable 90* optics. Light schedule is: 10am-noon 1 channel w/ 9x RB & 3x blue on. Noon- 8PM all lights on. 8pm-10pm 9rb & blue on. The reason I am posting is three part. 1) Is it possible (reasonably easy) to remove a diode from the heatsink to replace it? If so: 2) With a 24 LED setup like this, should I throw a red LED in? 3) What combo of RB & Whites would I want for a more 14k-18k look? I have recently been investing a lot in fancier zoas/chalices and wanting to make sure I get the most pop out of them =) The light during the day is relatively flat, things don't pop super well. Also considering, as an alternative, sometime in the next 4-6 months just splurging and buying an off the shelf fixture - something like an AI hydra that gives a nice combo of colors w/o a rediculous price tag. Maybe trying to snag one used. The display area of my tank is 21"x14", current light sits about 6" off water and I can grow corals across entire tank. Thanks Link to comment
